For the regular Unovan Zoroark, the best-supported moveset for both Great League and Ultra League is Shadow Claw with Foul Play and Sludge Bomb. Pokémon GO Hub’s current database snapshot lists that combination in both leagues. It is the safest general recommendation, not proof that Zoroark is a strong overall PvP pick: the same snapshot ranks it 797th of 1,143 eligible Pokémon in Great League and 628th of 841 in Ultra League, while its October 2026 analysis says Zoroark’s very low bulk is the central problem.
Sucker Punch is a legitimate alternative if you obtained the October 2026 Community Day move. It deals more fast-move damage than Shadow Claw, but generates less energy, delaying Foul Play by one additional fast-move action. Choose Shadow Claw for more reliable charge-move pacing; test Sucker Punch when immediate fast-move pressure or a specific matchup matters more. This guide concerns Unovan Zoroark, not Hisuian Zoroark.

The recommended Zoroark moveset
Use Shadow Claw + Foul Play + Sludge Bomb as the default moveset in Great League and Ultra League. This is the combination listed for both leagues in Pokémon GO Hub’s Zoroark PvP database snapshot accessed October 13, 2026.
- Fast move: Shadow Claw
- First charged move: Foul Play
- Second charged move: Sludge Bomb
The set gives Zoroark a Ghost fast move, a low-cost Dark charged move and a stronger Poison charged move. Foul Play is the move you generally want to reach first, while Sludge Bomb supplies the second damage type in the database’s recommended configuration. Because Zoroark is fragile, the value of this set comes from making each brief opportunity to attack count; it does not remove the species’ bulk limitation.

Why this is a recommendation rather than a guarantee
Moveset rankings are snapshots of a changing game and do not guarantee a result in every shield scenario, team composition or move-balance environment. Pokémon GO Hub’s database places Zoroark low among eligible Pokémon in both listed leagues. Its analysis also concludes that changing the fast move does not solve the structural problem created by Zoroark’s poor survivability. Treat the set as the best-supported starting point, then judge it against the role your team needs.
Shadow Claw and Sucker Punch: the key choice
The October 9, 2026 Pokémon GO Hub PvP analysis identifies Shadow Claw and Sucker Punch as the meaningful fast-move options for current Zoroark play. They have the same one-turn cooldown in the cited figures, but their damage and energy profiles point in different directions.
| Fast move | Type | Damage per turn | Energy per turn | Cooldown | Practical emphasis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shadow Claw | Ghost | 3.0 | 4.0 | 1 turn | Faster access to Foul Play |
| Sucker Punch | Dark | 4.0 | 3.5 | 1 turn | More fast-move damage, slower charge pacing |
| Snarl | Dark | 1.67 | 4.33 | 1.5 seconds | Higher energy generation, but lower cited damage output and a different timing profile |
Foul Play timing
Foul Play costs 40 energy. Shadow Claw generates 8 energy per action, so five Shadow Claw actions reach the cost exactly. Sucker Punch generates 7 energy per action: five actions produce 35 energy, requiring a sixth action to pass the threshold. The analysis describes that difference as a two-PvP-turn delay under its turn convention. In practical terms, it is one extra fast-move action before the first Foul Play.
That timing matters because Zoroark cannot comfortably absorb many attacks while waiting. Shadow Claw lets you present Foul Play sooner and can reduce the number of turns in which an opponent can reach a charged move first. Sucker Punch may inflict more damage while you are farming, but the additional action can cost a shield, switch opportunity or knockout in a close battle.
When Sucker Punch is worth testing
Sucker Punch has 4.0 damage per turn compared with Shadow Claw’s 3.0 in the cited analysis. That extra fast-move pressure can be useful when an opponent is already near knockout range or when your team benefits from Dark-type fast-move damage. It is not an automatic upgrade: the 3.5 energy-per-turn rate is lower than Shadow Claw’s 4.0.

The analysis reports that Shadow Claw wins some relevant matchups that Sucker Punch does not, while Sucker Punch has its own unique wins. Those results come from the article’s selected simulation conditions and shield scenarios, so they should be read as conditional matchup evidence rather than universal battle rules. If you use Sucker Punch, test the exact teams and shield settings you expect to face instead of assuming its higher damage improves every result.
Where Snarl fits
Snarl generates 4.33 energy per turn in the cited figures, more than either Shadow Claw or Sucker Punch, but its listed damage is only 1.67 per turn and its cooldown is 1.5 seconds. The standard database recommendation is not Snarl. Consider it only if a particular team plan values its energy profile and you have verified the resulting timing in your own simulations; the available analysis does not establish it as the general answer for Great or Ultra League.

Charged moves and their trade-offs
Zoroark’s current charged-move options in the October 9 analysis are Foul Play, Night Shade, Sludge Bomb and Flamethrower. Their cited damage and energy values are:
| Charged move | Type | Damage | Energy | Role in the analysis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Foul Play | Dark | 65 | 40 | Low-cost primary attack and the move Shadow Claw reaches in five actions |
| Night Shade | Ghost | 70 | 45 | Alternative Ghost coverage |
| Sludge Bomb | Poison | 80 | 50 | Second move in the database’s standard Great and Ultra League set |
| Flamethrower | Fire | 90 | 55 | Coverage option that can be useful in a team- or matchup-specific plan |
Why Foul Play is the anchor
At 40 energy, Foul Play is the cheapest charged move listed for Zoroark. Shadow Claw reaches that threshold after five actions, making it the most direct way to turn Zoroark’s energy generation into shield pressure. Even with Sucker Punch, Foul Play remains the first charged move to consider because the alternative attacks require more energy.
Why Sludge Bomb is the standard second move
Sludge Bomb costs 50 energy for 80 damage in the cited figures and is the second charged move displayed by the database for both Great and Ultra League. Its Poison typing gives Zoroark a different attack type from Foul Play. That does not make every matchup favorable, but it explains why the database’s default pairing is Foul Play plus Sludge Bomb rather than two attacks with the same typing.

When to consider Night Shade or Flamethrower
Night Shade costs 45 energy for 70 damage and keeps a Ghost identity alongside Shadow Claw. Flamethrower costs 55 energy for 90 damage and offers Fire coverage. Pokémon GO Hub’s analysis specifically notes that Flamethrower can provide useful coverage while warning that Zoroark’s frailty remains a problem. Neither move is established as the general replacement for Sludge Bomb in the cited database. Use one only for a defined team or matchup purpose, and verify that the additional energy cost fits the battles you are preparing for.

For Great League, the database snapshot recommends Shadow Claw, Foul Play and Sludge Bomb at level 21.5 and 1,496 CP, using a suggested 1/15/15 IV spread. It ranks Zoroark 797th out of 1,143 eligible Pokémon. These figures were accessed October 13, 2026 and should be treated as a dated database snapshot rather than a permanent league rating.
| Great League item | Snapshot value | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended moves | Shadow Claw / Foul Play / Sludge Bomb | Default build to try first |
| Suggested level | 21.5 | Database-specific recommendation |
| Suggested CP | 1,496 | Below the 1,500 CP league limit |
| Suggested IV spread | 1/15/15 | Use as the cited build target, not a promise of perfect performance |
| Database rank | 797 of 1,143 | Snapshot comparison, not a battle guarantee |
The low ranking and Zoroark’s lack of bulk mean Great League is not a place where the recommended moveset turns it into a safe generalist. Shadow Claw’s timing is still valuable, but you should expect to protect Zoroark from direct damage and avoid treating favorable typing as permission to leave it exposed.
Ultra League: higher level, same moveset
For Ultra League, the same database lists Shadow Claw, Foul Play and Sludge Bomb. Its suggested build is level 42, 2,497 CP and a 1/15/15 IV spread. The snapshot ranks Zoroark 628th out of 841 eligible Pokémon, again accessed October 13, 2026.
| Ultra League item | Snapshot value | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended moves | Shadow Claw / Foul Play / Sludge Bomb | Default build to try first |
| Suggested level | 42 | Database-specific recommendation |
| Suggested CP | 2,497 | Below the 2,500 CP league limit |
| Suggested IV spread | 1/15/15 | Cited target for this database build |
| Database rank | 628 of 841 | Snapshot comparison, not a guarantee of wins |
Ultra League gives the species a different field of opponents, but it does not erase the same fragility identified in the analysis. The identical recommended moveset means you can prioritize the fast-move and charged-move behavior you already understand rather than building a separate standard set solely because the CP cap is higher.

Master League information
The cited database provides no Master League ranking information for Zoroark. That absence should not be converted into a precise rank or a formal claim that Zoroark cannot be used there. It simply means the supplied snapshot does not establish a Master League placement to quote.
If you are considering Master League, do not extrapolate the Great League or Ultra League ranks. Check a current simulator and the rules of the specific format, then evaluate whether Zoroark’s low bulk can survive the opponents and shield patterns you expect.
Typing: useful resistances, serious weaknesses
The database’s type chart lists regular Unovan Zoroark as weak to Bug, Fairy and Fighting. It resists Dark and Ghost and double-resists Psychic. Those relationships explain why Zoroark can threaten some Psychic- or Ghost-oriented targets and why Dark- or Fighting-oriented pressure can be dangerous.
Typing is only one layer of a PvP matchup. Zoroark’s unusually low bulk can turn a nominal resistance into a narrow advantage if an opponent reaches a neutral charged move, lands super-effective fast moves or forces you to spend a shield. Build your team so Zoroark is not required to absorb repeated attacks simply because its typing looks favorable.
How to choose the moveset in practice
- Confirm the species. Open the Pokémon’s details and make sure you are working with regular Unovan Zoroark. Do not apply this recommendation to Hisuian Zoroark.
- Set Shadow Claw first. Use it as the general fast-move choice because it generates 4.0 energy per turn and reaches 40-energy Foul Play in five actions in the cited analysis.
- Unlock or select Foul Play. Make the 40-energy Dark move your primary charged attack. It is the earliest charged-move threshold among the listed options.
- Use Sludge Bomb as the default second charged move. This matches the current Great and Ultra League database recommendation and adds Poison coverage to Foul Play.
- Compare Sucker Punch only for a reason. If you have the event move or want to test higher fast-move damage, run the same team and shield scenario with Sucker Punch. Account for the extra fast-move action before Foul Play.
- Test alternatives against your actual opponents. Consider Night Shade or Flamethrower only when Ghost or Fire coverage answers a specific problem. Do not replace Sludge Bomb merely because an alternative has a higher listed damage number; its energy cost and timing also matter.
- Check CP and IV targets for the league. The cited database targets level 21.5 and 1,496 CP in Great League, and level 42 and 2,497 CP in Ultra League, both with a suggested 1/15/15 spread.
- Practice shield decisions. Because Zoroark is fragile, note whether the extra action from Sucker Punch causes it to lose a shield race. Repeat tests with the lead, switch and closing positions you actually plan to use.
How the October 2026 Community Day move fits
Pokémon GO Hub’s October 8, 2026 event guide reports that evolving Zorua during the October Community Day or within four hours after the event produced Zoroark with exclusive fast move Sucker Punch. The report describes an event-specific evolution window; it does not establish that the window remains open after the event, nor does it establish a future return.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.

The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
For a Zoroark that does not have Sucker Punch, Shadow Claw remains the general recommendation in the cited database. Do not assume an Elite TM route or a later event availability without a current, explicit announcement. If you already evolved one with Sucker Punch, keep it as a testable alternative rather than treating the event status as evidence that it is automatically superior.
Building a team around Zoroark’s limitations
Protect the frail slot
Zoroark should not be asked to repeatedly take neutral charged attacks. Its low bulk makes shield management unusually important, so pair it with teammates that can absorb pressure or cover Bug, Fairy and Fighting threats. The exact partners depend on the league and format; the move data alone cannot identify one universally correct team.
Use Foul Play timing deliberately
With Shadow Claw, count five actions to the first Foul Play threshold. This gives you a repeatable timing reference for deciding whether to throw immediately, overfarm or switch. With Sucker Punch, count six actions for the same threshold. Do not use the Shadow Claw count while playing Sucker Punch; that one-action difference is the central practical trade-off.

Sludge Bomb is the database default because it broadens the charged-move profile. Flamethrower can be useful when Fire coverage is specifically needed, and Night Shade is an alternative Ghost attack, but each costs more or changes the role of the second move. Write down the matchup you are trying to improve before changing the standard set.
Common mistakes and fixes
- Mistake: choosing Sucker Punch solely because its damage number is higher. Fix: include its 3.5 energy-per-turn rate and six-action Foul Play timing in the comparison.
- Mistake: assuming the Community Day move is required. Fix: Shadow Claw remains the cited general recommendation for Zoroark without Sucker Punch.
- Mistake: treating a database rank as a win rate. Fix: read 797/1,143 and 628/841 as snapshot placement, then test the specific shield and matchup conditions relevant to your team.
- Mistake: using the recommendation for Hisuian Zoroark. Fix: verify the form before spending TMs or building a team.
- Mistake: replacing Sludge Bomb because Flamethrower lists more damage. Fix: compare energy cost, typing and the actual targets you need to cover.
- Mistake: assuming favorable resistances make Zoroark safe. Fix: account for its low bulk and plan shields and switches accordingly.
- Mistake: extrapolating a Great or Ultra League set to Master League. Fix: the cited database gives no Master League ranking information, so evaluate that format separately with current tools.
A concise decision rule
Use Shadow Claw/Foul Play/Sludge Bomb unless you have a specific reason to test something else. Select Sucker Punch when you deliberately want higher fast-move damage and accept the extra action before Foul Play. Select Flamethrower or Night Shade only when their coverage solves a defined team problem. In every league, remember that the moveset is not the same as viability: the cited rankings and analysis identify Zoroark’s fragility as the main constraint.
