Players also unlocked an emblem showing their rank. That charm is a historical reward, not a confirmed permanent reward for reaching Onyx today: later Ranked Seasons introduced changing cosmetic rewards, and the official schedule does not name the Onyx item for the September 29–November 2, 2026 rotation.
What did players get for reaching Onyx in Season 1?
Players who reached Onyx in Season 1 received the Recon weapon charm in addition to the emblem for their rank. Halo’s ranked-experience explainer stated: “In Season 1, each player will get their Rank icon as an emblem that they can use on their weapons and players who find their way to Onyx will receive an additional item – the Recon weapon charm.” Halo’s ranked-experience explainer describes this as a Season 1 reward.
So, if you are asking whether hitting Onyx still guarantees the Recon charm, the answer is no: the official source ties that named charm to Season 1.
What is confirmed for the current Ranked rotation?
As of October 8, 2026, Halo Support’s published schedule lists Ranked S&D Extraction from September 29 through November 2, 2026, followed by Reset #4 on November 3. The schedule says rank resets continue and that each reset brings cosmetic rewards for players who reach a new rank, but it does not name the Onyx reward for this rotation. Halo Support’s Operation: Infinite patch notes also caution that ranked rotational playlist timing may change.

That means the precise current Onyx cosmetic cannot be confirmed from the official schedule. Check the in-game Ranked Rewards view or a later official Halo post for the active item rather than assuming it is the Recon charm or another particular cosmetic.
How Onyx works in the Competitive Skill Rank system
Onyx is the highest Competitive Skill Rank (CSR) tier in the ranked ladder. The Halo ranked explainer describes Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Onyx; Bronze through Diamond have six sub-ranks each. Onyx has no sub-ranks: it displays a numeric CSR beginning at 1500, with no hard cap, according to that explainer. These rank details describe the system covered by that source; they do not mean the reward stays the same from season to season.
Rank #2
CSR is not Career Rank. CSR tracks competitive placement in Ranked multiplayer, while Career Rank progresses through accumulated Personal Score. Career Rank culminates in Hero, with its own rewards such as the Mark VI armor kit, coatings, visor, and Hero emblem set. Those are not Onyx CSR rewards. Halo Support’s Season 5 patch notes describe the Career Rank system and Hero rewards.
