Those are different measures, so ranking them together without a stated method would be misleading.
What does “rarest” mean in Elden Ring?
The answer depends on which kind of rarity you mean. The game’s Common, Rare, and Legendary labels describe apparent scarcity in its interface; they do not provide a numerical enemy-drop probability. Eldenpedia’s item-rarity entry describes those categories, but the labels alone cannot tell you how many attempts a weapon may take to find.

- Drop rarity: how unlikely an eligible enemy is to drop an item.
- Acquisition difficulty: how much effort or progression is required to reach its source.
- Missability: whether an area change, quest step, or other condition can permanently remove access.
A low-probability farm and a guaranteed pickup that can be missed are not comparable on a single scale unless the ranking explains how it weighs probability, availability, and effort.
Are Noble’s Estoc and Noble’s Slender Sword the rarest weapons?
A June 30, 2025 article by Games Learning Society calls Noble’s Estoc and Noble’s Slender Sword the rarest weapons and claims each has a 0.5% drop rate. It also assigns that figure to Celebrant’s Cleaver, Celebrant’s Sickle, and Celebrant’s Rib-Rake. The reviewed article passage does not provide primary evidence for those percentages, so treat 0.5% as that source’s claim—not as a confirmed game statistic or a complete ranking.

Drop odds are also affected by Discovery, according to Eldenpedia’s Discovery entry. The exact formula is not established by the sources cited here, so a precise estimate of farming attempts cannot be derived from them.
How missable pickups make rarity different
Bolt of Gransax: a route-dependent example
A fan checklist updated September 11, 2026 says the Bolt of Gransax can be picked up from the giant spear shaft in Leyndell, near Erdtree Sanctuary, and becomes unavailable after the city changes into Ashen Capital following Maliketh. That is a different kind of scarcity from an enemy drop: the challenge is reaching and collecting it before an area-state change, not repeating a farm until a random roll succeeds. The location and timing are reported by the fan guide’s Legendary Armaments checklist; consult a current route guide if you are planning a playthrough around it.
Rank #3
- Elden Ring: Nightreign - Seekers Edition /PS5
Other Legendary Armaments have varied sources
The same checklist covers nine Legendary Armaments associated with an achievement. Their acquisition routes include bosses, chests, an altar, and a quest reward, which illustrates why a visual or achievement category is not itself a drop-rate ranking.
| Armament | Route described by the fan checklist |
|---|---|
| Grafted Blade Greatsword | Defeat the Leonine Misbegotten at Castle Morne. |
| Sword of Night and Flame | Open a chest in Caria Manor. |
| Ruins Greatsword | Defeat the Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight duo at Redmane Castle; the guide notes Radahn Festival timing. |
| Marais Executioner’s Sword | Defeat Elemer of the Briar. |
| Eclipse Shotel | Find it on a church altar at Castle Sol. |
| Golden Order Greatsword | Defeat the Misbegotten Crusader in Cave of the Forlorn. |
| Dark Moon Greatsword | Complete Ranni’s questline. |
| Devourer’s Scepter | Obtain it from Knight Bernahl at Warmaster’s Shack or in Farum Azula. |
This is a list of achievement-related armaments and their routes, not evidence that these weapons are the nine rarest items. The checklist’s count should not be confused with a ranking of drop odds.
What a defensible “rarest 13” ranking would require
A credible ranking needs consistent evidence for every entry. For each item, it should distinguish documented base drop probability from pickup or quest availability, identify the number and location of eligible sources, and account for whether the source can be revisited or farmed. It should also explain how those factors are combined before assigning positions.
The available item-specific evidence does not support scoring 13 entries across those dimensions. The 0.5% figures are secondary claims, while the missable Bolt of Gransax and the varied Legendary Armament routes illustrate acquisition difficulty rather than a shared numerical measure. A definitive ordered list would therefore imply a level of comparison the cited evidence does not establish.
