You do not download Jackbox.tv. You download a Jackbox game or Party Pack on a supported host device, then use Jackbox.tv in a browser as the controller. Most titles support Windows, Mac and Linux PCs, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV, iPad, Amazon Fire TV and other listed storefronts, but compatibility is specific to each game.

Where Jackbox games are available
The current official list names these purchase or access options:
- PC, Mac and Linux: Steam, Humble and Fanatical; Epic Games Store supports PC and Mac; the Mac App Store supports qualifying Apple titles.
- Consoles: PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
- TV and mobile Apple hardware: Apple TV and iPad for selected titles.
- Amazon: Fire TV for selected titles and Luna through cloud gaming.
Open the listing for the particular Party Pack before buying. Release timing, operating-system requirements, regional availability and storefront support can differ.

Windows, Mac and Linux
Steam is the broadest computer option and is practical when you want to connect a laptop or desktop to a television with HDMI or share the screen remotely. Steam purchases require the Steam application on a compatible computer; a Steam code cannot be installed directly on a smart TV. Epic, Humble and Fanatical are separate PC storefronts, so their licenses are not interchangeable with Steam or console copies. See Jackbox’s Steam setup guidance.
PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch
These consoles run compatible Jackbox titles directly and are convenient for living-room play. Buy from the relevant console store and verify the exact Party Pack listing; ownership does not normally extend to another console or PC store.

Apple TV and iPad
Some newer titles sold through the Mac App Store support Apple’s universal-purchase model across macOS, iPad and Apple TV. Jackbox identifies Party Pack 7 through Party Pack 11, The Jackbox Party Starter and The Jackbox Naughty Pack as qualifying examples. Party Packs 1–6 have different Mac App Store requirements, so check the individual listing.
Amazon Fire TV and Luna
Fire TV can host selected packs without a console or computer, but availability is title- and device-specific. Luna provides cloud access rather than a conventional downloaded ownership license; catalog, geography, internet requirements and subscription terms can change. Check Amazon Luna before relying on it.

Can you play Jackbox on a smart TV?
Sometimes, but a television itself is not automatically a supported host. Jackbox warns that some smart TVs cannot find its game in a Google Play Store app. Search for the exact title in your TV’s app store rather than assuming Android TV, Google TV, Samsung, LG or Roku compatibility.
The dependable TV setups are:
- Install the game on a supported PlayStation, Xbox or Switch connected to the TV.
- Install it on a Windows, Mac or Linux computer and connect that computer by HDMI.
- Install a compatible version on Apple TV or Fire TV.
The TV displays the host game; players normally use separate phones or browsers to answer. Platform-selection guidance is available from Jackbox support.

Can you download Jackbox on a phone?
Not as the normal host version. Jackbox games are not generally mobile apps that run entirely on an iPhone or Android phone. Instead, open Jackbox.tv in Safari, Chrome or another supported browser while the game runs on the host’s computer, console or TV device. Players do not need to purchase the game individually.
How players join a game
- Use a phone, tablet, laptop or other web-enabled device with a supported browser.
- Go to Jackbox.tv.
- Enter the four-letter room code shown on the host’s game screen.
- Enter a player name.
- Select the on-screen play control and answer from the browser.
The browser needs cookies, WebSockets, HTML5 and JavaScript. The host should normally use a second device as a controller because answers cannot generally be entered on the same device displaying the game. Full joining requirements are listed in Jackbox’s joining instructions.

Does every player need to buy Jackbox?
No. One person needs the purchased, running host copy; everyone else joins through Jackbox.tv. In the same room, players must be able to see the host’s screen. For remote play, the host must share that screen through a suitable video-call or streaming setup.
Do Jackbox purchases transfer between devices?
Usually not. A Steam purchase remains available to the same Steam account on compatible computers, but it does not become a PlayStation, Xbox, Switch or smart-TV license. The same platform-locking principle applies across the major storefronts.
The notable exception is Apple’s universal purchase for qualifying newer titles bought through the Mac App Store. Confirm the exact pack’s listing before assuming one purchase covers macOS, iPad and Apple TV; older packs follow different rules. Jackbox explains the exceptions in its purchase-transfer guidance.
Is Jackbox a subscription?
Standard storefront copies are one-time purchases. Amazon Luna is different: access can depend on Luna’s subscription or catalog arrangement, so it is not equivalent to owning an offline downloadable copy. Jackbox discusses accounts and subscriptions in its support documentation.

Do not buy until the exact platform is confirmed, because purchases generally cannot be moved later. Storefront prices and promotions also vary by region and date; compare the current listing for the specific pack at Jackbox’s purchase page.

Unsupported-device and connection fixes
- Downloaded a “Jackbox TV” app: the official controller experience is normally the Jackbox.tv website, not a required mobile app.
- Trying to host from a phone, Chromebook or Roku: move the game to a supported computer, console, Apple TV, Fire TV or Luna.
- Smart-TV app missing: use HDMI from a computer or a supported console/streaming device.
- Room code fails: reload Jackbox.tv and enter the current four-letter code shown by the host.
- Browser will not connect: update the browser and enable cookies, JavaScript and WebSockets; try another modern browser or network.
- Host cannot answer: use a second phone or other browser device as the controller.
- Purchased game is missing: sign into the store account used for the purchase, confirm the exact title is installed, and restart the app or device.
- Fire TV, Apple TV or console problems: restart the device, update its software and check the title’s listing again.
