Ascended Candles mainly unlock the upper branches of Spirit friendship trees, including Wing Buffs. Those buffs become extra Winged Light when you are reborn, so you can start your next life with more cape power. Other reported uses include some Elder unlocks, Traveling Spirit items, and spells, but check the current in-game tree for availability and prices.

Wing Buffs from Spirit trees
Thatgamecompany says Ascended Candles unlock the upper portion of a Spirit’s friendship tree. The special Winged Light buffs tied to Spirit ascensions are collected after rebirth. In practical terms, spending the currency on these unlocks builds permanent progression: your next life begins with additional Winged Light. How to get Ascended Candles
Deposit Winged Light in Eye of Eden
The official help page says Ascended Candles are obtained by depositing Winged Light in the Storm portion of Eye of Eden. Thatgamecompany’s explanation also connects Spirit ascensions to the Wing Buffs collected after rebirth.

Complete stronger Shard Eruptions
Ascended Candle Light can also come from stronger Shard Eruptions. Thatgamecompany states: “Stronger eruptions provide Light for Ascended Candles and a chance to complete the Season of Shattering Seasonal Quests.” Weaker eruptions provide Light for regular Candles instead. Shard eruptions occur randomly across realms, and shard signs at Home signal their locations, according to the official Shard Eruptions help page. Its event-timing information may not reflect the current schedule.
Approximate Eden payout
PC Gamer’s April 5, 2024 guide estimates roughly one Ascended Candle for every four Winged Light deposited in Eden. Treat that as a dated, third-party approximation, not an official current payout guarantee. The official sources cited here do not establish a current weekly earning cap. Choose what to spend them on
If you want lasting progression, prioritize Spirit-tree Wing Buffs: they add Winged Light after rebirth. For other purchases, confirm that the item appears in a current tree and check its displayed price before spending; availability and costs can vary. Ascended Candles are separate from regular Candles, and the official Web Store’s Candle packages are for regular Candles, not this currency. The official Sky Web Store shows those regular Candle packages.
