Blizzard’s October 16 tuning post documented several notable Shaman changes around release: damage increases for Enhancement and Restoration, a revised Enhancement talent interaction, and a stronger Season 1 set bonus. Those entries are not a complete final patch-note list for all three specializations.
When did patch 11.0.5 go live?
Blizzard’s October 22, 2024 known-issues post confirmed that patch 11.0.5 was live. The update was also identified as the World of Warcraft 20th Anniversary Celebration update, with the same release date, by the Warcraft Wiki.
What Shaman changes did Blizzard list around release?
Blizzard’s October 16, 2024 hotfix post listed the following Shaman tuning. These are the documented entries in that post, not a verified, exhaustive account of every Shaman change in the final 11.0.5 notes.
| Specialization | Change | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Elemental | No Elemental change is listed in the cited October 16 hotfix entries. | Not established by these entries |
| Enhancement | All-ability damage increased by 4%. | Damage tuning |
| Enhancement | Witch Doctor’s Ancestry reduced Feral Spirit’s cooldown by 1 second per Maelstrom Weapon stack, down from 2 seconds per stack. | Talent interaction adjustment |
| Enhancement | The Season 1 two-piece bonus increased Stormstrike, Lava Lash, Ice Strike, and Crash Lightning damage by 10%, up from 6%. | Set-bonus tuning |
| Restoration | Lava Burst, Lightning Bolt, and Chain Lightning damage increased by 12%. | Damage tuning |
How should players read the Enhancement changes?
Broad damage increase
The 4% increase applied to Enhancement’s all-ability damage, rather than just to the named abilities in the set-bonus change. Blizzard did not characterize that percentage as a measured increase in overall specialization performance.

Witch Doctor’s Ancestry
The talent interaction still reduced Feral Spirit’s cooldown according to Maelstrom Weapon stacks, but the reduction per stack was cut in half—from 2 seconds to 1 second—in the October 16 adjustment.
Season 1 two-piece bonus
The bonus’s damage increase for Stormstrike, Lava Lash, Ice Strike, and Crash Lightning rose from 6% to 10%. This is a separate set-bonus change from the all-ability damage increase.

What did Blizzard say later about the tuning?
In a February 21, 2025 post, Blizzard said some Elemental and Enhancement changes in patch 11.0.5 had performed beyond its tuning goals and described later adjustments. That is subsequent tuning context, not a launch-day assessment of the October changes.
Is this the complete list of Shaman patch notes?
No complete final 11.0.5 Shaman patch-note list covering Elemental, Enhancement, and Restoration is established here. The October 16 hotfix post provides specific, dated Shaman tuning entries, but it should not be treated as proof that no other Shaman changes appeared in the final notes. In particular, the absence of an Elemental entry in the selected hotfix changes does not establish that Elemental received no 11.0.5 changes.
