Reissad Studio says it migrated Bodycam from Unreal Engine 5.2 to 5.5, alongside work on map optimization and compatibility with Lumen and Virtual Shadow Maps. The studio describes the move as foundational work for performance and stability—not as a measured frame-rate improvement. Its announcement does not provide before-and-after benchmarks, so the effect on any individual PC remains unquantified.
What the Unreal Engine 5.5 upgrade changes
Reissad Studio says it moved Bodycam from Unreal Engine 5.2 to 5.5. The studio described the migration as a technically demanding change: “We’ve also migrated Bodycam from Unreal Engine 5.2 to 5.5, a move that brought major long-term benefits, but also plenty of technical challenges.” That is the developer’s characterization of the project, not an independently measured result. Read Reissad Studio’s announcement on Steam.
The announcement says the team had to address compatibility issues and engine bugs and rewrite systems. It also says the new engine version brings compatibility with Lumen and Virtual Shadow Maps. These are technical changes described by the studio; the announcement does not quantify their visual or performance effect in the released game.
What map optimization work did Reissad describe?
Alongside the engine migration, Reissad says it reviewed the game’s maps to optimize CPU and GPU use. The studio lists work involving lighting, shaders, shadow complexity, redundant sublevels, and merged meshes. This describes development work and its intended direction; it does not establish a specific gain in frame rate, loading time, or stability.

Does the upgrade improve performance on your PC?
The developer links the migration and optimization work to longer-term performance and overall stability goals, but the announcement supplies no controlled comparison: no named test PC, resolution, graphics settings, average frame rates, 1% lows, stutter measurements, or crash-rate results. There is therefore no supported FPS increase or stability percentage to apply to your system.
To judge a performance change, a useful comparison would hold the PC hardware, resolution, and graphics settings constant, then report average and low frame rates, stutter behavior, and crashes. The available announcement does not provide those measurements. Meeting Steam’s recommended requirements is a useful hardware reference, but it does not guarantee a particular frame rate.
