Treyarch’s October 9, 2025 beta wrap-up announced two major Multiplayer changes for launch: Open Matchmaking with minimal skill consideration would be the default, and persistent lobbies would be available. November’s preseason notes then detailed launch adjustments to aim assist, movement, weapon progression, Overclocks, and Daily Challenges. Black Ops 7 launched on November 14, 2025, so these are historical launch changes—not a description of the game’s current 2026 balance.
What did Treyarch announce after the beta?
The clearest changes came in Treyarch’s October 9, 2025 beta wrap-up. Treyarch said Open Matchmaking with minimal skill consideration would be the standard Multiplayer experience at launch, and that persistent lobbies would be available. The first announcement addressed how much player skill influenced matchmaking; the second answered concerns about groups being split up when a match ended.

Both statements were attributed to Treyarch in the official wrap-up, which did not identify an individual speaker.
How was matchmaking changing?
The beta tested standard Moshpit and Open Moshpit matchmaking. Open Moshpit used minimal consideration of skill; Treyarch said that approach would become the default for Multiplayer on day one. The announcement did not give a numerical matchmaking setting or promise that skill would have no influence at all. “Minimal skill consideration” is the official description.
What did persistent lobbies mean?
Treyarch announced that persistent lobbies would be in Black Ops 7 at launch, responding to discussion about lobby disbanding. The announcement established that players could stay in a lobby across matches; it did not specify that every player would remain together in every circumstance.

What changed for controller aim assist?
The October wrap-up said Treyarch would share controller aim-assist changes before launch. The November 12, 2025 preseason notes supplied the detail: rotational aim-assist strength was tuned at short and long range, and full rotational strength required players to move the right stick to track an enemy. Without that tracking input, rotational strength was reduced.
Treyarch said the aim-assist adjustments were intended to balance inputs while retaining the core feel of controller play. These were launch notes published in 2025; they do not establish how aim assist is tuned in the live game in 2026.
What movement and progression changes were listed?

- Mantling: Mantles were made smoother, faster, and more consistent.
- Sliding: Slide acceleration, speed, and duration were reduced slightly.
- Weapon progression: Weapon XP earn rates increased. Treyarch said weapons would reach max level roughly 25% faster than in Black Ops 6; that is the studio’s published comparison, not an independent measurement.
- Overclocks: Overclock earn rates were made more consistent.
- Daily Challenges: Daily Challenge bonus XP increased from 3,000 to 5,000, and players received one reroll per day in each mode.
What did Treyarch report about cheating in the beta?
In its beta patch notes, Treyarch reported that 97.5% of matches were clean of cheaters on beta Day 1 and 98.8% on Day 5. Those are Treyarch’s own reported figures, not an independent audit. They describe the beta days cited and should not be read as a measure of current anti-cheat performance or as a claim about all players.
What was decided before the beta?
A separate August 26, 2025 community update said Black Ops 6 Operators, Operator skins, and weapons would not carry over to Black Ops 7, while Double XP tokens and GobbleGums would. Treyarch said this decision applied to Black Ops 7 and did not affect Black Ops 6 content usable in Warzone. This was a pre-beta carryover decision, not a change announced in response to beta feedback.
