Character titles in Tales of Eternia Remastered are collectible achievement labels attached to individual characters. The available documentation does not establish that equipping a title raises attack, defense, HP, artes, or any other combat statistic. What a character title is
A title is an achievement entry assigned to one character. Instead of forming a single experience rank, titles create a broad checklist of optional and mandatory-looking milestones spread across the adventure. A character can earn several titles for unrelated activities: one for reaching a level, another for learning every skill, another for finishing a collection, and another for winning a specialized minigame.

The title menu therefore works as a record of what each character has accomplished. RPG Site’s character guide, dated October 17, 2026, describes a list in which many game achievements are tied to titles. MobilesTalk’s guide, also dated October 17, groups the requirements into level milestones, mastery, collection completion, minigames, story events, and difficult or post-game conditions.

Do not read the word “title” as a replacement for a class, weapon, or passive ability. The sources identify titles as labels and checklist entries. They do not document a title changing a character’s statistics when selected or equipped.
What titles actually do
They track long-term accomplishments
The title list gathers goals that would otherwise be easy to forget. It can show that you have reached a character’s level threshold, completed a reference book, learned a complete set of abilities, or cleared a special challenge. This is useful for completionists because the requirements span the entire game rather than one menu or one type of battle.
They provide optional completion targets
Many titles are not required to finish the main story. They turn optional systems into measurable goals: collecting all 60 Lens, filling the Collector’s Book, completing the Monster Compendium, mastering recipes, or winning score-based activities. A title can therefore serve as a reason to revisit side content even after the story is complete.

They persist into later runs
Bandai Namco’s October 15, 2026 update notice states: “Added ‘Titles’ to the carryover elements for the second playthrough and beyond.” In practical terms, an earned title record is intended to remain available when you begin a subsequent playthrough. The notice does not say that every related item, quest state, or character level carries over; it specifically names Titles as a carryover element.
Do titles give stat bonuses or new abilities?
No researched source confirms a direct combat bonus from selecting a title. The available guides do not state that a title increases attack, defense, HP, TP, accuracy, elemental resistance, artes power, or any other parameter. They also do not establish that a title automatically grants a new attack or passive skill.
That distinction matters when deciding how to play. Treat a title as a record of an achievement unless the game itself displays a clearly documented effect or a future official data source verifies one. A requirement such as “learn every skill” describes how to unlock the title; it does not prove that the title changes the resulting character build.

If you are checking a particular title in-game, compare the character’s displayed statistics before and after selecting it and look for an explicit effect description. Do not infer a bonus from the title’s name alone. The current published evidence supports completion tracking and New Game Plus persistence, not a general stat system.

MobilesTalk reports 88 titles across the six permanent playable characters in its checklist. Its character counts are:

Rassius Luine is a temporary guest character rather than one of the six permanent party members. The guide tracks two Rassius titles separately. Because the published count and the guest count are presented separately, check the title-list convention in your version when deciding whether to describe the checklist as 88 entries or 88 permanent-character entries plus two guest entries.
MobilesTalk says its English labels and requirements follow an independent Tales Archive database recorded in 2025. It also warns that the text-box wording shown when a title is earned can differ slightly from the name used in the title list. Search by the requirement and character, not only by an exact English phrase.
The main ways titles are unlocked
Level milestones
Level titles are the most predictable entries. RPG Site lists Reid’s default title as Hunter, followed by Swordsman at level 10, Swordmaster at level 30, Guardian at level 60, and Knight of Legend at level 99. Comparable level ladders are listed for Farah, Keele, Chat, and Max, while Meredy’s entries include level 30, 60, and 99 milestones.
These goals are best handled during ordinary play. Keep the relevant character in the party, avoid removing them from experience-earning situations when practical, and check the title menu after major level thresholds. A level title is not evidence that every other title for that character has unlocked; each entry has its own condition.

Skill, arte, recipe and Craymel mastery
Mastery titles reward completing a system rather than reaching a single number. Examples in the guides include Reid learning every skill, Farah learning all skills, Meredy creating every spell by fringing, Keele gaining all ten Greater Craymels, and several characters mastering every recipe.
These requirements can stretch across the entire game. Record which skills, spells, Craymels, or recipes are still missing instead of assuming that a nearly complete list is enough. If a title does not appear after the final item is obtained, confirm that the item was learned or created by the correct character and that the game registered the completion.
Collections and encyclopedia completion
Reference books and collection systems also feed the title list. Reid’s Lens Hunter requires all 60 Lens. Keele’s Curator is tied to the Collector’s Book, and Connoisseur of Creatures is tied to the Monster Compendium.

Quizzes, minigames and score challenges
The title list includes activities outside normal battles. Reported examples include Tales quizzes, rafting, Craymel Ball, train bombing, Chamballoon, WHIS, sushi, Ocean Offensive, dance-hall challenges, and letter-delivery tasks.
These goals often have their own scoring or performance rules. Work out the requirement for the specific title before repeating attempts: a completion condition, a score threshold, and a speed target are different kinds of objectives. If the game offers a practice or lower-risk route, use it to learn the activity before spending time on a high-score attempt.

Story and event triggers
Some titles are attached to locations or scenes. Examples include Reid’s Aurora Mage at Seyfert Observatory, Farah’s Impulsive event in Barole, Meredy’s location-based titles, Keele’s Dr. Mintche return to Mintche University, and Max’s Man of Action at the Ruins of Volt.

The published lists do not provide a universal missable flag for every event title, so do not assume that a scene can always be repeated after the story advances. If a title matters to your completion goal, check the title menu as soon as the event occurs and keep a separate save before major story transitions.
Speed, combo and high-difficulty challenges
RPG Site lists Reid’s Fleet-Footed, Speed of Sound, Lightning Quick, and Berserker titles, as well as a Combo Master condition requiring a 100-plus-hit combo. These are fundamentally different from level or collection goals: they reward execution, timing, or a dedicated combat setup.
Save these attempts for a focused session. Build the party and equipment around consistency, use a repeatable enemy encounter, and verify the exact threshold in the title list before trying to reproduce it. A successful high-hit combo or fast clear should be followed by a menu check so you know the title was recorded.
A practical route to completing the list
- Choose a tracking method. Start with the in-game title menu and mark each character separately. For collection goals, keep the Collector’s Book, Monster Compendium, and Lens progress visible while you play.
- Collect passive progress first. Keep characters active for experience, learn skills as they become available, cook regularly, and create Meredy’s spells through fringing instead of postponing every mastery requirement.
- Check event locations when they become available. Visit Seyfert Observatory, Barole, Mintche University, the Ruins of Volt, and other locations named by the relevant title. Confirm the entry immediately after the scene.
- Finish books and itemized systems. Compare every Lens, monster, recipe, Greater Craymel, and other required entry against its reference list. Do not rely on memory or a percentage that rounds up.
- Reserve minigames for planned attempts. Separate ordinary completion from score, speed, and performance requirements. Learn each activity’s rules and write down the target before repeating it.
- Attempt difficult combat titles last. The 100-plus-hit Combo Master requirement and similar challenges are easier once you understand the battle system, have a stable party setup, and can repeat a suitable encounter.
- Use a New Game Plus run strategically. Since titles carry into the second playthrough and beyond, a later run can serve as a clean-up route for event, speed, or difficulty goals that you did not want to interrupt during the first story completion.
Remaster features that make title hunting easier
Bandai Namco’s launch announcement lists several convenience features: Boost, destination icons, high-speed Auto mode, Battle Retry, and Quick Recovery. It also states that Extreme difficulty is available from the start and Unknown difficulty becomes available after completion.
These tools can reduce repetition while you work on titles. Destination icons help with location-based checks; high-speed Auto can shorten routine battles; Battle Retry is useful when a challenge fails; and Quick Recovery reduces downtime after a mistake. The official material documents these as quality-of-life options, not as changes to title requirements. There is no evidence that Boost, Auto, or a selected difficulty automatically unlocks or modifies a title condition.

What can be missable or easy to overlook?
The guides identify several categories that deserve caution, but they do not publish a definitive missable-title flag for every entry. Story and location events are the clearest risk because the trigger may depend on where you are in the narrative and which character is available. Collection and mastery goals can also be delayed by a missed entry, an unlearned skill, or an incomplete book.
- Check event-based titles immediately after visiting the named location.
- Keep a pre-event save before major story advances if a title is important to your completion target.
- Review every reference book rather than trusting a broad completion percentage.
- Confirm that the title belongs to the intended character; a party-wide action may still require one specific character to receive credit.
- Look at the title menu after a qualifying action instead of assuming the unlock happened silently.
For score, speed, and difficulty titles, the main risk is usually misunderstanding the threshold rather than permanently missing the entry. Read the condition carefully and repeat the attempt under controlled circumstances.
How to interpret different title names
English localization can create small differences between the phrase displayed when a title unlocks and the label used in the title list. MobilesTalk specifically notes this discrepancy in its guide. If a name does not match word for word, compare the character, activity, location, and requirement before concluding that an entry is absent.
Character ownership also matters. Reid’s Lens Hunter and Combo Master goals are not interchangeable with another character’s collection or combat requirements, even when the activity involves the whole party. Use the title menu’s character assignment as the final check.
New Game Plus and long-term completion
The confirmed carryover rule changes how you can plan a 100-percent run. You do not have to force every title into the first story route. You can finish normal progression, retain the title record, and use the second playthrough or a later run to target remaining challenges.
The carryover notice does not promise that every world-state condition, item, level, or quest result will transfer. It names Titles specifically. Treat the title record as persistent while checking other New Game Plus elements in your own version before relying on them for a particular cleanup plan.
Bottom line
Character titles are achievement milestones and a persistent completion checklist. They cover levels, mastery, collections, minigames, events, speed goals, combos, and difficult challenges. Their documented benefits are organization, optional goals, and carryover to later playthroughs; a direct combat-stat bonus has not been established by the available official notice or published guides.
