In the “Drive-Thru” mission of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Big Smoke orders: “I’ll have two number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, two number 45s, one with cheese, and a large soda.” The line names items only by number. The item names come from a commonly cited decode of the Cluckin’ Bell menu, not from the line itself, and the dialogue does not say which items were meant for Smoke.
What each number means
Big Smoke’s line uses menu numbers, and the most common reading of those numbers matches them to Cluckin’ Bell items. The table below separates what he says from the item names fans have attached to it.

The official PC manual’s “Where To… Eat” section, in the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PC manual, establishes that Cluckin’ Bell is a restaurant in the game. It does not establish the number-to-item mappings, so the item names rest on the fan decode. The line also does not name the food, so a reader who sees “number 9” in the game has to rely on the menu, not the dialogue, to know what it is.
How the order builds up
The scene is a group order, and Smoke speaks after the others have ordered. The sequence in the iGrandTheftAuto Drive-Thru mission guide and the Grand Theft Wiki transcript of Big Smoke’s order runs as follows:
#1 Best Overall
- Classic Open-World Adventure: Experience the iconic story of Carl Johnson as he returns to Los Santos, navigating through gang warfare, corruption, and family drama in this legendary action-adventure game set in early 1990s California
- Massive Explorable Territory: Roam freely across three distinct cities and vast countryside areas, featuring diverse landscapes from urban streets to rural farmlands, deserts, and mountain ranges with endless opportunities for exploration
- Enhanced Xbox 360 Performance: Enjoy improved graphics, smoother gameplay, and enhanced visual details optimized for Xbox 360 hardware, bringing the sprawling world of San Andreas to life with better rendering and performance
- Extensive Customization Options: Personalize your character's appearance with numerous clothing options, hairstyles, and tattoos while also customizing vehicles and building CJ's skills through various activities including gym workouts and driving challenges
- Diverse Gameplay Activities: Engage in a wide variety of missions and side activities including street racing, casino games, property acquisition, gang territory control, and numerous mini-games that provide hours of entertainment beyond the main storyline
- CJ asks for a number 9.
- Ryder asks for the same item.
- Sweet asks for a number 6 with extra dip.
- Smoke’s order repeats the number 9 and the number 6 with extra dip, then adds a number 9 large, a number 7, two number 45s and a large soda.
Because Smoke’s list repeats orders already placed, the line is a running gag about the group’s appetite rather than a neat, individual order for one person.
Was all of it meant for Smoke?
The short answer is that the dialogue does not say. Each section below covers one piece of the evidence.
Rank #2
- Drive through the largest GTA environment ever -- The game has three cities players can explore, for a gaming area 5 times larger than Vice City
- Recruit new characters into a street gang and take over by leading drive-by shootings against rivals Steal all-new vehicles, including bicycles
- Improved fighting elements -- smoother hand-to-hand combat, plus the ability to hold a weapon in each hand
- New graphics elements as cars get dirty and even rust, the longer you drive them
- Advanced role-playing elements -- Unlike previous GTA characters, Carl can swim and he needs to eat to survive
What the transcript establishes
The transcript confirms the exact wording of Smoke’s line and the order of the requests that come before it. It does not assign any item to a particular character, and it does not say that Smoke intended to eat everything he listed.
The fan reading
A fan analysis in the GTA Intel Newswire treats the large burger, the bucket, the Fowlburgers and the drink as Smoke’s share, and treats the number 9s and the number 6 as the earlier group orders. That allocation is a community interpretation. It is not a statement from Rockstar Games, and no developer statement on who ordered what was found in the sources cited here.

The later food joke
The mission continues into a drive-by, and afterward Ryder says that Smoke ate his food. The Grand Theft Wiki page for the mission records this aftermath. The exchange supports the joke that Smoke was the one who ate the most, but it does not prove which items were originally ordered for him.

- Established: The exact spoken order, the sequence of requests before it, and the existence of Cluckin’ Bell in the game.
- Not established by the cited sources: An official mapping of each number to a menu item, and an official allocation of the food among CJ, Ryder, Sweet and Smoke.
- Not stated: Any Rockstar Games statement about the menu decode or the joke about who ate what.
Readers who want to check the line themselves can replay the Drive-Thru mission and compare it with the transcript. The answer to “what did Big Smoke order?” is the spoken list. The answer to “was all of it his?” is an interpretation, not something the game states.
