How Infinity Time pays out
Time Shards you collect during a run are traded in when the mode ends. The chest you receive depends on the total you gathered, so a larger shard count places you in a higher tier. The community-maintained Infinity Time reference on the Plants vs. Zombies Wiki describes this cash-out system; its publication date is not stated.

The top tier: the Infinite Infinity Chest
The highest tier listed in that reference begins at 25,000 Time Shards. Its possible outcomes are:
- 30,000 coins
- A customization item
- A Party Character piece
The reference presents these as possible outcomes rather than a complete drop table, so the list should not be read as exhaustive or as a fixed set you receive every time.

Can Infinity Time give you a Party Character?
It can, as one of the top chest’s possible outcomes. Reaching 25,000 shards does not guarantee a Party Character, and it does not guarantee a full character even when that outcome comes up, because the reward is described as a piece. Neither the community reference nor the EA sources available for this article give odds for Party Character pieces, so no probability can be stated.

How to unlock Infinity Time
EA’s Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 PC Manual describes Solo Play Quests for both Plants and Zombies, and characterizes Ops as cooperative wave defense that can be played solo, with AI allies, or with online players. Infinity Time’s unlock requirement comes from community guidance rather than an official walkthrough. An EA Forums answer, How to earn Party characters? (undated in the result), says you must first complete the solo quest line for your side:
- Plants: the L.E.A.F. solo quest line
- Zombies: the Top Zombie solo quest line
The same answer says Infinity Time can be played alone or with up to four players in total.

What the 25,000-shard target means in play
The same EA Forums guidance associates roughly Wave 25 or later with reaching 25,000 shards. Treat this as a rough benchmark from players, not a conversion rate. Shard income depends on how you play, so two runs that reach the same wave can produce different totals. An older EA Forums thread, Tips and Tricks: Infinity Time (2016), is community discussion and not an official reward table.

EA’s paid Party Upgrade is a separate digital add-on. It is not the name of the Infinity Time chest, and you do not need it to earn Infinity Time rewards.

Setup and connection requirements
EA’s PC manual states: “All Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 gameplay requires an Internet connection.” (p. 2). The manual also documents keyboard and mouse controls, and it says: “For the best experience, we recommend using the Xbox One Wireless Controller.” (p. 3). The controller is an optional input choice. It does not change how many shards you collect or which chest you receive.
The manual is an original-era document. It confirms the online requirement, but it is not a guarantee that servers or regional availability are currently working as described.
