What “marriage” means in FFXIV
The in-game marriage system is called the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding. Square Enix describes an eternal bond as “an eternal bond demonstrates lifetime devotion to a single individual.” It is a formal two-player ceremony with its own quest, equipment, rewards, and venue options rather than a combat, crafting, or housing progression system.

The ceremony is tied to the couple’s Home World. Square Enix’s ceremony-day guidance says it can only be held on a player’s Home World and may take up to two hours from beginning to end. A character visiting another World cannot use that visit as the ceremony location.

The practical benefit that remains useful after the event is the Eternity Ring. Most other rewards are cosmetic, social, or suitable for decorating a home and commemorating the occasion.

Rewards by Eternal Bonding plan
There are three plans: Standard, Gold, and Platinum. Every plan includes the core ring and ceremony rewards. Gold and Platinum expand the visual presentation and add extras; they do not replace the baseline rewards.

Square Enix’s official overview and item listings are the authoritative descriptions of what each plan supplies. Read the plan details before committing if a particular dye area, venue treatment, or guest item matters to you: the main difference between Gold and Platinum is the amount and type of customization, while Platinum also retains the additions of the lower plans.
The Eternity Ring: teleporting to your partner
The Eternity Ring is the central utility reward. When you invoke it, the item can teleport you to your partner. This is not an unrestricted summon: several conditions must be true.
- Same World: both characters must currently be on the same World.
- Aetheryte attunement: you must be attuned to the nearest aetheryte for the destination area.
- Flight rules: if the destination is in a zone where flying is required to reach the selected location, the relevant flying requirement still applies.
- Instance restrictions: some instances cannot be entered through the ring’s teleport function.
In practice, the ring is best understood as a convenient partner shortcut within the normal travel rules, not as a way to bypass World travel, aetheryte attunement, flight unlocks, or instance access. If the option fails, first check your partner’s World, then confirm that you have attuned to the area’s nearest aetheryte and that the destination is not a restricted instance.

What the Standard plan gives you
Attire and hairstyles
Standard provides the special ceremony clothing and the associated hairstyles. These are the recognizable visual rewards for the event and can be used after the ceremony as part of your character’s appearance.
Rings and the Embrace emote
The plan includes the rings used for the bond and the Embrace emote, allowing the couple to perform a dedicated affectionate animation outside the ceremony itself.
Eternity Cake furnishing
The Eternity Cake is a housing furnishing item themed around the ceremony. It is a lasting decoration rather than a consumable combat or crafting resource.
Standard is therefore the complete baseline experience: it includes the ceremony’s signature look, social emote, furnishing, and ring utility without the premium plan additions.
What Gold adds
Dyeable ceremony attire
Gold changes the clothing from the standard special attire to dyeable attire, giving you control over its color after obtaining it. This matters if you want the outfits to match a glamour theme, a role-play concept, or a coordinated screenshot set.

The ceremony chocobo mount
Gold includes the ceremony chocobo mount: a white chocobo wearing ceremonial barding. The mount is an actual travel mount reward, not merely a furnishing or a temporary ceremony effect. It is the most visible gameplay-adjacent addition over Standard.

Gold expands the number of ceremony customization choices and supplies two guest gifts. Those gifts are intended for attendees, so they are part of the event’s social planning rather than additional personal equipment for the couple.
What Platinum adds beyond Gold
Platinum retains the rewards of the lower plans while providing the broadest ceremony customization. Its attire is dyeable, but its dyeable areas differ from Gold’s, giving you a different styling range rather than simply “more dye.”
Choose Platinum when the ceremony’s staging, venue presentation, and fine-grained visual choices are more important than merely obtaining the ring or mount. If your priority is the teleport ring and the basic clothing, Standard already supplies those core rewards. If you want the mount and guest gifts, Gold covers those additions; Platinum is for the largest customization set and its distinct dye-area arrangement.

How the ceremony works
1. Start “The Ties that Bind”
The ceremony quest is The Ties that Bind. Both partners must use promise wristlets and complete paired portions together. You must be in a two-person party with your partner while carrying out those linked steps.
2. Prepare the ceremony and guests
Use the official preparation information to arrange the plan, schedule, attire, and guest list. Because the event is Home World-bound, make sure the couple is on the correct Home World rather than relying on a temporary World visit.
3. Attend the ceremony sequence
The event proceeds through an entry, an address to guests, exchange of rings, reception, and recessional. It begins immediately when both eternity bells are rung or automatically after the scheduled delay. The complete sequence can take up to two hours, so guests should reserve enough time instead of treating it as a short cutscene.

Do anniversary ceremonies give the rewards again?
No. Replaying The Ties that Bind for an anniversary unlocks Platinum-plan ceremony options, but it does not issue a second item bundle. The anniversary event does not grant new ceremonial garments, Eternity Rings, chocobo whistles, aesthetician tokens, or heart prisms.

That makes an anniversary ceremony primarily a presentation and commemorative feature. It can give the couple access to Platinum-style options for the repeat event, but it is not a way to duplicate the original mount, ring, clothing, or other ceremony items. Square Enix documents these limits on its Anniversaries page.
Which plan should you choose?
Choose Standard if utility and the basic keepsakes come first
- You mainly want the Eternity Ring’s partner teleport.
- You want the standard ceremony attire, hairstyles, Embrace emote, and Eternity Cake.
- You do not need a ceremony mount, guest gifts, or extensive staging options.
Choose Gold if you want the mount and a more personalized event
- You want the white chocobo with ceremonial barding.
- You want dyeable attire.
- You want additional ceremony customization and two guest gifts.
Choose Platinum if the ceremony itself is the centerpiece
- You want the widest range of ceremony customization.
- You prefer Platinum’s dyeable-area layout for the attire.
- You want to retain the lower-tier rewards while maximizing presentation options.
None of the plans turns marriage into a general progression system. The ring’s conditional teleport is the lasting convenience; the other rewards express the ceremony’s theme, commemorate the couple, or improve the event’s visual and social presentation.
What you need to access FFXIV
The ceremony rewards are in-game items, not physical products. A new player may need the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Complete Edition to access the game, but that purchase enables access to the game and is not a marriage reward. Bottom line
Marriage in FFXIV gives both partners the Eternity Ring and a complete set of ceremony-themed keepsakes. The ring can teleport you to your partner only when same-World, aetheryte, flight, and instance rules permit it. Standard supplies the core attire, hairstyles, emote, and cake; Gold adds dyeable clothing, the ceremonial white chocobo, expanded customization, and two guest gifts; Platinum keeps those additions and offers the broadest customization with its own dyeable-area arrangement. Anniversary ceremonies unlock presentation options but do not duplicate the original reward items.
