To identify a specific “Helms,” look for context such as a person’s first name, a geographic location, an occupation, or the sentence in which the word appears. A video-game context alone does not establish a connection to a particular person, place, or organization.
Is Helms a surname, and what does it mean?
The reference entry for Helms describes it as an English and Danish patronymic surname, glossed as “son of Helm.” It reports a proposed derivation from the Old Norse name Hjelm or Hjälm, meaning “helmet,” and also notes that Helms may be a shortened form of the English topographic surname Helmsley. These are etymologies reported by that entry; they should be treated as possibilities rather than settled conclusions. Helms surname entry

How is “helms” related to “helm”?
Helm is a separate word with a nautical meaning and a figurative one. Cambridge Dictionary defines it as “the handle or wheel which controls the direction in which a ship or boat travels:” and also records its figurative use for being in charge of an organization. The presence of that related word does not, by itself, explain a particular use of “Helms.” Cambridge Dictionary: helm
In a sentence such as “She helms the project,” helms is also the third-person singular present form of the verb helm. That grammatical use is distinct from the surname. Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries: helm
