In Stardew Valley, the green and yellow Strange Dolls are Museum artifacts, loved gifts for Jas, and materials for different shirts and dyes. You can sell either for 1,000g, but keep a copy if you still need its Museum donation or want its unique tailoring or dye use.

What the green and yellow Strange Dolls are used for

Both variants can be donated to the Museum. Their other uses differ by color:

Variant Tailoring result Dye color Listed sale price
Green Strange Doll Wumbus Shirt Green 1,000g
Yellow Strange Doll Bobo Shirt Yellow 1,000g

The Stardew Valley Wiki lists both dolls as loved gifts for Jas. Dwarf and Penny like them; most other villagers dislike them. See the [green Strange Doll], [yellow Strange Doll] and [gift tastes] entries for the item details.

Should you donate, keep, or sell a Strange Doll?

  • Donate it if that color is not yet in your Museum collection.
  • Keep it if you want to make its shirt or use it as dye.
  • Sell it if those goals are complete; the listed price is 1,000g for either variant.

Because the guaranteed sources are tied to Secret Notes and alternate finds are uncommon, selling your only copy can mean waiting for another one. The item pages list alternate chances of 0.06%–0.08% in specified artifact spots, 0.12% from fishing treasure chests, and 0.03% from tilling in the Mines or Skull Cavern. These are in-game probabilities reported by the Stardew Valley Wiki, accessed in 2026, not real-world statistics.

How to get each Strange Doll

Green Strange Doll: Secret Note #17

Secret Note #17 guarantees the green doll. Dig at the farthest-north tile on the eastern side of the area north of JojaMart, beside the river. Stand close to the spot when you hoe it so the item does not fall into the water. The Secret Notes guide covers the puzzle locations.

Yellow Strange Doll: Secret Note #18

Secret Note #18 guarantees the yellow doll. In the Calico Desert, hoe the spot southwest of the bench in the southeastern part of the map. This dig cannot be done during the Desert Festival.

Other possible sources

Both item pages also list rare finds from artifact spots, fishing treasure chests once you have reached Fishing level 2, and tilling in the Mines or Skull Cavern. The guaranteed note locations are the more dependable route if you are seeking a specific color.
