How Angel becomes Angelus
“Surprise” (season 2, episode 13)
“Surprise” is the trigger episode. Angel and Buffy share an intimate encounter, and the season-two guide describes that moment as threatening to destroy his soul. At the episode’s end, Angel loses the soul that has kept his guilt and conscience intact. This is the transformation point, so viewers who are looking for the exact moment Angelus begins should start here.

Because the change occurs at the conclusion, most of the episode is not an Angelus story in the conventional sense. It is the boundary between the earlier Angel storyline and the conflict that follows. Treat “Surprise” as required viewing for the cause of the transformation, rather than as a full episode with Angelus functioning as the season’s antagonist.
“Innocence” (season 2, episode 14)
“Innocence,” which aired the next day, is the first full Angelus episode. The guide identifies the intimate moment from “Surprise” as transforming Angel back into Angelus, and Buffy realizes that she must destroy him. The personal relationship established before the transformation now becomes the central source of danger and conflict.
For a watch list, “Innocence” is the essential starting point if you want Angelus as an active villain rather than the transformation itself. Watching it immediately after “Surprise” preserves the intended cause-and-effect sequence and makes clear why the season’s threat is emotionally different from an ordinary monster-of-the-week appearance.

“Passion” (season 2, episode 17)
“Passion” is the clearest early statement of Angelus as the season’s central enemy. It is explicitly listed as an Angelus Big Bad episode, and his campaign of psychological torment against Buffy and the Scoobies escalates here.

The important distinction is narrative scale. “Innocence” establishes the transformed character and Buffy’s immediate realization; “Passion” shows the conflict operating as a sustained campaign against the group. If you are sampling only the most representative Angelus installments, this is one of the episodes that should not be omitted.
“Killed by Death” (season 2, episode 18)
“Killed by Death” contains a brief Angelus appearance during its hospital storyline. The principal threat in this episode is Der Kindestod, not Angelus, so it should not be treated as another full Big Bad chapter.
Its value in the watch order is continuity. The episode sits directly inside the continuing Angelus arc, between “Passion” and the later “Becoming” episodes. Include it when you want every active appearance, but expect Angelus to have less screen presence and less control over the episode’s main plot than in “Innocence” or “Passion.”

“Becoming, Part One” (season 2, episode 21)
After the gap between episodes 18 and 21, the Angelus conflict returns as the explicit endgame of season two. “Becoming, Part One” identifies Angelus as the Big Bad while Buffy decides she must stop Angel. Willow discovers a possible spell that could restore his soul, creating the central strategic question for the finale: stopping Angelus and restoring Angel are related goals, but they are not the same problem.

Part One is therefore both a continuation and a setup episode. It re-establishes Angelus as the principal opposing force and introduces the restoration possibility that drives the conclusion. Watch it immediately before Part Two; separating the two episodes obscures the way the finale is structured.
“Becoming, Part Two” (season 2, episode 22)
“Becoming, Part Two” is the season-two finale and the endpoint of the active Angelus arc. Angelus remains the identified Big Bad as Buffy confronts the Acathla crisis. The episode supplies the resolution to the conflict developed from “Surprise” onward, so it is not an optional epilogue or a later reference.
Anyone watching for the complete Angelus storyline should finish with this episode. The two “Becoming” installments function as one finale-sized unit: Part One establishes the choices and possible restoration, while Part Two brings the Acathla crisis and the season-two conflict to its conclusion.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow the episodes fit together chronologically
The active run is concentrated in the latter part of season two, but it is not consecutive. The sequence is episodes 13 and 14, then 17 and 18, followed by 21 and 22. The gaps matter if you are using a selective watch list: skipping from “Innocence” to “Passion” omits no Angelus episode, but skipping “Killed by Death” omits a brief appearance; moving from “Passion” directly to “Becoming, Part One” omits that continuity appearance while preserving the major plot beats.

Which episodes are essential for different viewing goals?
If you want the complete active-appearance list
Watch all six episodes in broadcast order: “Surprise,” “Innocence,” “Passion,” “Killed by Death,” “Becoming, Part One,” and “Becoming, Part Two.” This is the only option that includes both the transformation and the brief hospital-storyline appearance.
If you want only the core Angelus arc
A shorter route is “Surprise,” “Innocence,” “Passion,” “Becoming, Part One,” and “Becoming, Part Two.” This preserves the transformation, the first full Angelus episode, the major psychological escalation, and the two-part conclusion. The trade-off is that it leaves out the brief appearance in “Killed by Death.”
If you are starting with the first full Angelus episode
Begin with “Innocence,” but understand that it assumes the transformation at the end of “Surprise.” Watching the preceding episode gives the relationship and the exact trigger its proper context. Starting at “Innocence” is practical for a villain-focused sampler, not the fullest chronology.

You do not need every season-two episode to identify the Angelus appearances. The active list is confined to six episodes in the latter portion of the 22-episode season. However, the Angelus story is built on the earlier Angel-and-Buffy relationship, so watching the season in order gives “Surprise” and “Innocence” more context than an isolated episode can provide.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.

The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
For a strict episode checklist, use the six titles in the table. For a first viewing of the season, keep the normal 22-episode order and treat the Angelus run as beginning with episode 13, becoming fully active in episode 14, escalating in episode 17, briefly continuing in episode 18, and concluding in episodes 21 and 22.
Angelus appearances versus references
This guide uses “appearance” narrowly: Angelus must be active within the main episode narrative. That means the list includes the transformation at the end of “Surprise,” the full antagonist role in “Innocence,” “Passion,” and both “Becoming” episodes, and the brief appearance in “Killed by Death.”
It does not claim to enumerate every later flashback, dream, image, or spoken reference involving Angelus in either series. Those categories are broader than the active season-two storyline and are not covered by the episode-guide evidence used for this list. If your project is cataloguing every retrospective image or mention, you need a different, scene-level inventory rather than this focused viewing guide.
Bottom line for a watch list
Angelus starts with Angel’s soul loss at the end of “Surprise,” becomes the full antagonist in “Innocence,” intensifies his campaign in “Passion,” appears briefly in “Killed by Death,” and returns as the named Big Bad for “Becoming, Part One” and “Becoming, Part Two.” Those six episodes are the complete active Angelus sequence identified in the season-two narrative.
