Grow a Garden, a Roblox game, reportedly topped Fortnite’s concurrent-player record in June 2025. GameSpot said the idle garden game passed 16 million concurrent users over a weekend, compared with the 14.3 million Fortnite record it cited.
What game beat Fortnite’s concurrent-player record?
GameSpot’s June 16, 2025 report named Grow a Garden, a Roblox experience. It said the game exceeded Fortnite’s previous concurrent-player record after a free promotion helped drive a surge in players. The report did not detail the promotion’s mechanics or establish how much it contributed to the increase.
GameSpot described Grow a Garden as an idle game: players plant crops and flowers, design a garden, and return to a world that changes between sessions. That simple loop is the available context for the record story; it does not, by itself, explain the scale of the audience spike.
How do the reported numbers compare?
| Game | Reported concurrent users | Source and context |
|---|---|---|
| Grow a Garden | More than 16 million | GameSpot’s report of its weekend peak, published June 16, 2025 |
| Fortnite | 14.3 million | The earlier record attributed to Fortnite by GameSpot in the same report |
These are concurrent-user figures as reported by GameSpot—not daily or monthly player totals. The available evidence does not include Roblox or developer telemetry independently confirming Grow a Garden’s precise peak or measurement window, so the comparison should be attributed to GameSpot rather than presented as an official platform-verified record.

What does “concurrent players” mean here?
Concurrent users are people playing at the same time, rather than everyone who played over a day or month. Record comparisons are meaningful only when their scope, metric, time window, and source are clear. Here, the claim concerns concurrency within a Roblox experience and a Fortnite record as reported by GameSpot.
Steam’s statistics page tracks Steam users and games; it cannot verify how many people were playing a Roblox experience. Its numbers are not an independent check of this particular comparison.
