The game in Lenovo’s reported free-game giveaway is The Ascent, a cyberpunk-themed isometric shooter with RPG mechanics. The key drop was reported on June 5, 2025, and should be treated as a historical offer: current availability and claim terms are not confirmed.
What was Lenovo giving away?
Lenovo Legion Gaming Community’s promotion was titled “The Ascent Key Drops.” Notebookcheck reported on June 5, 2025, that Lenovo was distributing vouchers that could be redeemed through Gamesplanet for a Steam key. The report said vouchers were limited and described needing a Lenovo or Gamesplanet account for the process at that time. Those details describe the 2025 offer, not verified current instructions. Notebookcheck’s June 5, 2025 report and Lenovo’s key-drop page are the relevant references.
Can you still claim the free game?
Current availability is unconfirmed. The Lenovo page view available for this article shows the “The Ascent Key Drops” heading and a “Giveaway Details” label, but does not provide claim dates, terms, or remaining-key information. The 2025 report is not evidence that vouchers are still available, nor does it establish current eligibility, geographic restrictions, or an expiration date.
If Lenovo’s page presents claim terms when you visit, check that the offer is active, that keys remain, and that the redemption region and account requirements match your situation before proceeding.

What kind of game is The Ascent?
The Ascent is an isometric twin-stick shooter set in a cyberpunk world. It combines action-focused combat with RPG features including skill trees and weapon upgrades. Notebookcheck compared its futuristic setting with Cyberpunk 2077, while distinguishing the games’ formats: The Ascent emphasizes combat, rather than Cyberpunk 2077’s open-world maps and extended dialogue. They are not the same franchise.

Notebookcheck’s June 5, 2025 report gave The Ascent a Steam value of $29.99. That is a historical price reported at the time, not a verified current Steam price.
