Overwatch is the closest alternative to Marvel Rivals if what you enjoy most is team-based hero combat: coordinated teams, distinct characters and abilities, and objective-focused matches. It is not a clone—Overwatch is played from a first-person perspective, and its current formats include both 5v5 and 6v6. For a different kind of squad action, try Apex Legends; for a more experimental, MOBA-influenced option, consider Deadlock only if you can get an invite.
What makes a game feel like Marvel Rivals?
Marvel Rivals is a third-person, 6v6 team PvP shooter built around Marvel characters, hero abilities, team-up abilities and destructible environments. Its appeal is not just having a roster of heroes: the match structure rewards players for coordinating their roles and abilities with a team. That makes Overwatch the most natural place to start among these alternatives. Apex Legends and Deadlock share some hero-shooter ingredients, but each changes the match loop enough that they suit different preferences.

Overwatch: the closest team-shooter alternative
Choose Overwatch if the part of Marvel Rivals you want to keep is the coordinated hero-versus-hero team match. Blizzard describes it as a free-to-play, team-based action game and currently presents both 5v5 and 6v6 formats. The extra format options mean team size can vary; they do not make the games identical. Overwatch official site

The main adjustment is perspective: the editorial comparison describes Overwatch as first-person, while Marvel Rivals is third-person. That changes how you see the battlefield and manage awareness, even when both games ask you to work with a team and use character abilities effectively.
Apex Legends: pick it for squad battle royale
Apex Legends is a better fit if you want characters with distinct abilities and squad coordination, but are open to a very different match loop. EA describes it as a free-to-play hero shooter that combines character abilities and strategic squad play with battle-royale gameplay. Matches center on surviving across a large map and making positioning decisions with your squad, rather than reproducing Rivals’ 6v6 team format. Apex Legends on Steam

Deadlock: an invite-limited, MOBA-like experiment
Deadlock combines third-person hero shooting with lane control and MOBA-style tactics, making it the most experimental option here rather than a straightforward substitute. Valve’s Steam page says the game is in early development, has no announced release date and is accessible only through friend invites from playtesters. If you cannot get an invite, it is not currently a simple pick-up-and-play recommendation. Deadlock on Steam

SUPERVIVE appeared in a January 2025 alternatives article as a third-person MOBA and battle-royale hero shooter, but its current Steam listing says it is no longer available on that store. Without a verified, currently supported route to play, it should not be presented as an available recommendation. SUPERVIVE on Steam
