Embark’s September 30, 2026 update says known cheat-program use now brings a permanent ban with no warnings or second chances. The studio acknowledges that external software can trigger anti-cheat violations unintentionally, but has not published a false-ban rate or a definitive list of commonly misidentified apps.
What conduct can get you banned?
Embark’s Ban and Enforcement Policy, last updated February 26, 2026, says violations of the Terms of Service, EULA, or Code of Conduct can lead to temporary or permanent suspension. It identifies these categories:
- Cheating or gameplay-affecting tools: cheats, hacks, or third-party tools that affect gameplay.
- Anti-cheat circumvention: attempting to bypass or evade anti-cheat protections.
- Unfair exploitation: abusing bugs or glitches to gain an advantage.
- Abusive behavior: including hate speech, harassment, and stream sniping.
- Boosting or farming: manipulating play or progression for an unfair benefit.
- Account and item transactions: sharing or selling an account, or trading in-game items for anything of value.
Embark says serious violations can also result in bans across its titles. The policy does not assign a specific sanction to each non-cheating violation, so the exact outcome depends on the case.
What happens if anti-cheat detects a cheat?
In its September 30, 2026 anti-cheat update, Embark said permanent bans are now standard for accounts caught using known cheat programs: “No warnings. No second chances.” The studio also described several possible enforcement layers:

- Account restriction: access may be suspended temporarily or permanently under the enforcement policy; known cheat-program use is described in the update as a permanent-ban case.
- License restriction: a sanctioned copy of the game can be blocked from use by another account. Embark says accounts ever associated with a banned copy are permanently banned.
- Cross-title action: serious violations may lead to bans in other Embark titles.
- Hardware restriction: Embark says it uses these when it has enough evidence that a machine was used for cheating. Its policy says hardware restrictions are final and cannot be appealed.
Embark said it had lowered its hardware-ban threshold and was working toward extending hardware bans to almost all systems caught running cheat software. That was a plan described on September 30, 2026, not confirmation that the broader system was already in place.
Can ordinary software cause a false positive?
It can trigger a violation unintentionally, according to Embark’s policy, which warns that external software interacting with the game may do so. Embark does not publish a complete safe-app list. Its guidance is to avoid applications that affect game integrity, provide an unfair advantage, or offer unauthorized services; if you are unsure about an application, do not run it with the game.

That warning is not a verified catalogue of common false-positive programs. The official sources do not identify particular hardware-monitoring, accessibility, overlay, input, or utility apps as known false positives, and they give no false-positive rate. An appeal being available if an action was mistaken establishes that errors can be considered; it does not show how often they happen or diagnose an individual restriction.
What Embark says about accessibility devices
In a May 7, 2026 fair-play article, Embark said it analyzes telemetry and communication patterns to distinguish legitimate accessibility use from abuse, and continues to refine the process. It said common official devices are better known to its systems, while lesser-known devices can be harder to assess. This is the studio’s description of its approach, not a guarantee that a particular device will be treated as safe.

How does anti-cheat decide when to act?
Embark says ARC Raiders uses kernel-level protection from Denuvo, detections from Anybrain, and an expanding set of in-house machine-learning and other data models. It says the systems build confidence before enforcement and that an appeal provides a human review safeguard. The studio does not disclose operational details such as detection thresholds.
Embark says it assesses suspicious behavior across multiple instances rather than acting on a single suspicious event, because that could wrongly affect a legitimate player. Executive Producer Aleks described the approach in the September 30, 2026 update: “The system analyzes behavior over multiple instances to give us a high-degree of certainty that fair play is compromised.” The studio also says it reviews publicly posted videos and streams when they provide clear evidence. A delayed action therefore does not necessarily mean a report was ignored; nor does the stated review process prove mistaken actions never happen.

Is teaming with another player bannable?
Embark distinguishes spontaneous cooperation from pre-arranged matchmaking abuse. Meeting someone during a raid and cooperating through proximity chat remains allowed. Coordinating in advance to enter the same solo lobby and target players who queued alone is the queue-teaming behavior the studio says it targets.
Embark reported in its September 30, 2026 update that, five days after it began keeping known queue-teaming groups apart, it saw 85% fewer players engaging in that behavior. It also reported spoiled raids falling from around 1 in 50 to 1 in 300, with no meaningful queue-time impact. These are figures reported by Embark, not independently verified measurements.

How to appeal an eligible game restriction
For an eligible active game restriction, Embark’s Ban Appeals guide directs players to use the official ARC Raiders Support flow. The guide says each eligible restriction gets one appeal.
- Log in to ARC Raiders Support with your Embark ID.
- Open the chat bubble and select Ban Appeals > Game Ban.
- Identify the restriction and include its message, relevant facts, and context in your appeal.
- Submit the appeal and wait for an individual review; do not assume that filing guarantees a reversal.
The guide says a team member checks relevant account data and the player’s explanation. The result may be Upheld (the restriction remains), Adjusted (a different action is applied), or Lifted (the restriction is removed because it was applied in error). Embark says it cannot share detailed evidence or detection methods because doing so could compromise security. Hardware restrictions cannot be appealed.
Embark’s policy also says account owners are responsible for activity on their accounts, banned accounts cannot transfer items or progression, and enforcement can affect accounts using a Steam Family Sharing license. Do not try to evade a restriction by switching accounts or using a shared copy.
