Embark Studios and co-founder and chief content officer Rob Runesson mutually agreed to part ways in March 2026 after allegations about him circulated publicly. The studio said an external law firm’s investigation did not substantiate the allegations, but that it considered the situation unsustainable. The allegations have not been independently established in the reporting, and the streamer involved reportedly said some claims about her were out of context or misleading.
What Embark said about Runesson’s departure
In reports published March 17–18, 2026, Embark said its leadership had learned of allegations against an employee and hired an external law firm to investigate. The statement, reproduced by Game Developer as a statement the company gave to IGN, said: “The investigation did not substantiate the allegations, but we found the situation unsustainable and mutually agreed to part ways with Rob.”
That is Embark’s characterization of the inquiry and the decision. The reviewed coverage does not include the investigation report, its methodology, or supporting evidence, so readers cannot independently evaluate the inquiry’s scope or findings. The studio’s statement does not establish that the alleged conduct occurred, and the departure itself does not prove misconduct.
What was alleged, and what the streamer reportedly said
According to contemporaneous reports, anonymous claims described an alleged romantic and sexual relationship between Runesson and a streamer associated with The Finals. The anonymous account reportedly alleged that the streamer became uncomfortable with requests for sexual conversations and favors, and felt constrained by Runesson’s promotional support for her streams. These are allegations reported by outlets, not independently established facts.

PC Gamer and GamesRadar report that the streamer told IGN some claims circulating about her were out of context or misleading. Game Developer reported that she declined to comment on the record. Her reported response is an important qualification, but does not independently resolve the allegations.
Timeline
- Around February 2026: Reports say anonymous claims began circulating and were later read publicly by The Finals streamer Balise. Public circulation is not proof of the claims.
- March 17, 2026: PC Gamer and GamesRadar reported Embark’s announcement that it had mutually agreed to part ways with Runesson and its account of the external investigation.
- March 18, 2026: Game Developer published its report, also reproducing Embark’s statement to IGN.
Why the story is linked to ARC Raiders
Runesson was an Embark co-founder and chief content officer, and the studio develops ARC Raiders. Nexon’s company profile says Embark was founded in Stockholm in November 2018, was fully acquired by Nexon in 2021, and identifies Patrick Söderlund as founder and CEO. Nexon’s June 2025 announcement describes ARC Raiders as an Embark-developed multiplayer extraction adventure. This is company and game context; the allegations concern an individual and are not claims about the game itself.
