2K says NBA 2K25’s online services are scheduled to retire after December 31, 2026. Starting January 1, 2027, multiplayer, online modes, MyCAREER, and MyTEAM will no longer be accessible, and players will no longer be able to earn Virtual Currency (VC). Owners can still redownload the game and play offline modes, including Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA, according to 2K’s sunset notice.
When do NBA 2K25 sales and online services end?
2K’s notice, published September 3, 2026 and updated October 2, 2026, gives two separate dates:

- October 30, 2026: NBA 2K25 is scheduled to become unavailable for purchase.
- December 31, 2026: The game is scheduled to be discontinued and its online services retired. The notice says online access ends from January 1, 2027.
The purchase delisting does not end online play immediately: it precedes the scheduled service retirement by two months. Both dates are those stated by 2K, not independently verified reports of platform operations. See the NBA 2K25 Server Sunset notice.
Which features will stop working?
Features that rely on 2K’s servers will no longer be available once the online services retire. 2K specifically identifies multiplayer, online game modes, MyCAREER, MyTEAM, Online Leagues, and community sharing. You will also no longer be able to earn VC.

2K does not say whether existing VC balances will be refunded or transferred, or whether saved files, collections, and online progress will remain accessible. Its notice also does not provide platform-by-platform details about internet requirements or locally stored data.
Which modes can owners still play?
2K says existing owners can redownload NBA 2K25 and play offline modes. Its sunset notice names these modes as remaining playable:

2K’s broader Online Services Status table also lists MyNBA/MyLeague/MyGM and 2KU/Learn 2K as offline modes. The more specific NBA 2K25 sunset notice uses the mode names above. An offline mode may still contain features that depend on servers; Online Leagues and community sharing, for example, will not be available.

If you want to use the online modes, plan to do so before the scheduled retirement at the end of 2026. For offline play after that, keep in mind that 2K confirms redownloading and offline modes generally, but does not guarantee how each platform handles downloads, account access, saves, or individual features. The notice does not promise continued access to existing VC or online progress.
