“Delete my account” can describe two different actions in Throne and Liberty: opting out of the announced transfer of game data from Amazon Games to NC, or deleting the Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox account that you use to access the game. They do not have the same result.
If you opt out of the NC transfer, the official FAQ says your game data will not move, so your characters, progression, and inventory will not carry over and you would start over if you later play under NC. It does not promise a refund for purchases, and it does not say that Amazon Games immediately erases every record. If you delete a Steam account, Steam says its licenses and associated information are permanently removed and purchases are not automatically refunded. The current FAQ does not define equivalent consequences for deleting a PlayStation or Xbox account.

The three account actions and their consequences
The safest way to interpret the policy is to identify which layer of account you are changing. The game’s service-transition FAQ covers migration to NC; Steam Support covers deletion of a Steam account. A platform-account deletion rule should not be assumed to apply to another platform.

The first two rows concern the announced service transition, not deletion of a platform identity. The last two concern platform-account policies, where the available statements are different.

If you opt out of the NC transfer
Your existing game state will not follow you
The official service-transition FAQ describes opt-out as a request not to transfer your data from Amazon Games to NC. Its explicit warning is: “Your characters, progression, and inventory will not carry over.” In practical terms, a character’s level, equipment, quest progress, storage and other recorded game-state information would remain outside NC’s service. If you later play Throne and Liberty under NC, you must create or use a fresh game state rather than continue the old one.
This is a loss of continuity, not a statement that every Amazon Games record is instantly destroyed. The FAQ says Amazon Games account data will be handled under its standard retention and deletion policies, but it gives no retention period. Do not treat an opt-out confirmation as proof that all personal data or transaction records disappeared the same day.
No automatic purchase refund is established
The game FAQ does not say that opting out refunds paid currency, bundles, battle-pass purchases, cosmetics or other entitlements. It also does not state that those entitlements remain claimable if you later begin a new NC account. Because neither outcome is promised, retain receipts and ask the current official support channel about a specific transaction before you opt out. A general assumption that “lost progress” means “refunded purchases” is not supported by the published policy.

How the opt-out window fits the dates
The FAQ currently lists October 30, 2026 as the opt-out request deadline. Transition maintenance is scheduled to begin November 10, 2026. Dates are operational and can change, so check the live announcement, Service Transition: Key Dates and What to Expect, before submitting a request. Missing the deadline is materially different from deleting a platform account: the normal default is migration.
If you take no action and let the migration proceed
Migration is the default
The FAQ states: “If you take no action during the opt-out window, your game data will be transferred to NC as part of the standard migration.” You do not need to submit an opt-in request for this path. Instead, after the transition you must accept NC’s Terms and Policies and complete any account-activation steps that NC requires.
What the ordinary transfer includes
For a normal migration, the FAQ identifies characters, inventory, progression and entitlements as transferable. It also says owned Lucent, Loyalty Points, Sollant and Ornate Coins remain usable before and after the transition. That statement describes continuity through migration; it is not a refund guarantee and should not be applied to an opt-out request.

Platform-specific step for Xbox
Existing Steam, PlayStation and Xbox platform accounts remain unchanged during the ordinary transition. Xbox players are additionally told to install the NC-published app after the transition. The FAQ does not describe a comparable platform-account replacement for Steam or PlayStation.
What deleting a Steam account actually does
Steam’s deletion policy is broader than a game opt-out
Steam Support’s “Account Deletion – Common Questions” says deleting a Steam account permanently removes game licenses and associated information. It also lists the community profile, gifts, inventory items, wallet funds and other associated information among the material that is deleted and cannot be recovered. Read literally, this action affects the Steam account as a whole, not only Throne and Liberty.
Steam’s policy also says, “Deleting your account will not automatically refund any purchases made on the account.” Deletion therefore should not be used as a refund method. If you have a transaction dispute, use the applicable support or refund process while the account and purchase records are still available. Does Steam deletion separately delete a Throne and Liberty account?
Steam’s statement establishes what happens to the Steam account and its licenses; it does not provide a separate, game-specific description of NC’s migration database. Conversely, the Throne and Liberty FAQ does not say that opting out deletes a Steam account. Treat them as separate layers: deleting Steam can remove your ability to access the license and associated Steam data, while the game FAQ’s opt-out controls whether the Amazon Games game data is transferred to NC.

The current transition FAQ says existing PlayStation and Xbox platform accounts remain the same during the normal migration, but it does not explain what happens if a player permanently deletes one of those platform accounts. It gives no definitive rule for whether a character, purchase history, platform entitlement or linked identity can be restored afterward.

Console account deletion can have platform-specific licensing and recovery rules, and the game FAQ is not a substitute for those terms. If your goal is to stop playing rather than destroy an account, uninstalling the game, signing out, or disabling notifications is a materially less irreversible step.

Decision checklist before you choose
- Name the action. Decide whether you mean an opt-out from NC migration, no action during the migration window, or permanent deletion of a platform account.
- Record your current state. Save your character names, server, receipts and screenshots of paid balances. These records cannot restore a character, but they make a support query precise.
- Check the deadline. If you intend to opt out, verify the current deadline in the official transition announcement rather than relying on an old post or social-media summary.
- Read the confirmation carefully. An opt-out confirmation should be understood as a non-transfer request, not as a refund approval or a certificate that all Amazon Games data was immediately erased.
- Handle refunds separately. Steam account deletion does not automatically refund purchases, and the game FAQ makes no opt-out refund promise. Contact the relevant support channel while you can provide order details.
- For Xbox migration, install the new app. The FAQ specifically calls this out as a post-transition requirement.
- Ask about an individual case. The FAQ says post-transition NC customer-service details will be announced once confirmed. Use the current official support route for account-specific questions instead of assuming another platform’s policy applies.
Why the wording matters
“Characters, progression, and inventory will not carry over” describes the result of refusing the game-data transfer. “If you take no action … your game data will be transferred” describes the default migration. “Deleting your account will not automatically refund any purchases” describes Steam’s platform-account policy. Each sentence belongs to a different action and a different service, so combining them into one blanket rule can lead to an avoidable loss of access or money.
As of the published October 8, 2026 transition update, the practical distinction is straightforward: opt out and you give up continuity on NC; do nothing and the listed game data and currencies migrate; delete Steam and you permanently remove the Steam account’s licenses and associated information without an automatic refund. The effect of deleting a PlayStation or Xbox account, and the treatment of purchases after opting out, remain questions for the relevant official support channels.
