In DMZ, a completed death normally costs the nonpermanent items in your Backpack. Contraband weapons are the main weapons permanently lost; a carried Weapon Blueprint is temporarily inaccessible instead. Successful extraction sends your items to Storage. The official DMZ material cited here does not confirm what happens to your gear after an unintended disconnect or whether you can rejoin.
What happens if you are downed, then revived?
Being downed is not the same as a completed death. Call of Duty’s DMZ overview says squadmates can revive a downed Operator, so a possible revive should not be treated as a confirmed gear-loss event.

What do you lose when you die?
Call of Duty Staff’s official overview describes DMZ as a single-life mode: “dying results in the loss of all nonpermanent items in your Backpack.” That is the general rule for carried, nonpermanent gear when an Operator dies.
Contraband weapons
Contraband weapons are the primary weapons permanently lost on death, according to the overview. Do not assume a Contraband weapon will return to your inventory after the run.

Weapon Blueprints
A Weapon Blueprint carried at death is not permanently lost. The overview says it becomes inaccessible for a period, usually a few hours; it does not give a fixed recovery time.
Other Backpack items
Cash and other nonpermanent items carried in the Backpack are covered by the general loss rule. Items you successfully extracted in an earlier run are already in Storage, rather than still being carried in that match.

- ADAPT OR DIE IN A FIGHT AGAINST THE ULTIMATE THREAT
- Combat means making choices — different loadouts, different paths through the mission. Combat missions that provide more player choice. There is no one-size-fits-all solution – it is your choice whether to take the stealthy approach or go loud taking on any and all foes.
- One of the greatest collections of Multiplayer maps ever. Launching with new Ground War maps boasting innovative play spaces and the epic return and evolution of the popular War Mode
Does a Secure Backpack protect your gear?
There is a limited exception. Call of Duty’s Season 03 overview says eligible items in a Secure Backpack are kept for that Active Duty Soldier if the Operator is eliminated in an Extraction Zone. The protection is specific to the Secure Backpack and its eligible contents; it is not a general guarantee for every item or every loss situation. The overview distinguishes eligible items from Contraband and items on the soldier.
What happens when you extract—or miss final exfil?
Successful extraction
Items you successfully extract—including cash, weapons, and other items—go into Storage for use between matches, according to the official DMZ overview.

Final exfil leaves without you
If final exfil departs while you are still in the match, the overview says remaining Operators are listed as MIA. It does not describe that result as a successful extraction, so do not treat it as banking your carried items in Storage.

The official DMZ overview explains death and extraction but does not say whether an unintended disconnect preserves your gear or lets you rejoin. A Season 04 reconnect feature is documented for Ranked Play, not as a DMZ rule; it should not be used to infer what happens in DMZ. The published sources therefore do not establish a definite disconnect outcome.
