In The Sims 4, divorce does not necessarily move a Sim out of the household. To set up separate homes, use household management to split the household and move the departing Sim into a new or existing household. Does a Sim move out automatically after a divorce?

The sources do not establish an automatic custody system. When splitting the household, decide which household each child should join, to the extent the current interface allows. The original forum question mentioned twins, but the replies addressed moving the father rather than a game-assigned custody arrangement.
Does divorce divide the money or decide who keeps the home?
The cited discussions do not explain what happens to household funds or who keeps a home after divorce. They also do not establish effects on relationship meters, family-tree status, or Sims’ emotions, so those outcomes should not be assumed from this guidance.
