Amazon Prime Gaming is the older name for the game perks bundled with an Amazon Prime membership. Amazon now presents those perks through Amazon Luna, and they come in two separate forms: a rotating library you stream through Luna where cloud delivery is available, and a monthly list of PC games you claim and keep through a storefront, app or redemption code. Both are included with Prime, but they work differently, so the answer to “what free games can I get?” depends on which one you mean.
What “Prime Gaming” now refers to
Many readers still search for “Prime Gaming,” and some Amazon help text still uses that branding. Amazon’s current gaming pages, however, describe the benefit as Luna. Amazon’s own wording in its October 2026 Luna content update makes the split clear: “With Luna, Prime members can enjoy an evolving library of games wherever Luna cloud delivery is available.” Amazon Game Studios published that update on October 6, 2026.

Route one: the rotating Luna library (stream it)
Luna Standard is the cloud-play catalog. Amazon’s October 2026 update says it contains more than 80 games. That figure is a dated statement from Amazon Game Studios, not a permanent promise, and individual titles rotate in and out. Amazon’s gaming page describes the library as a rotating selection of games included with Prime, playable without a console.
Streaming is the key constraint. The library is available wherever Luna cloud delivery is available, so a game listed in Luna is not automatically playable in every country. Input also varies by title. Amazon’s official listing for STAR WARS: Galactic Racer, for example, lists both controller and keyboard-and-mouse support. That is one example, not a guarantee that every Luna game supports the same devices.

Streamed games are not added to your library permanently. If a title leaves the rotation, you lose access to it through Luna.
Route two: the monthly PC games you can claim (keep them)
Separately from the streaming catalog, Free Games with Prime adds PC games that members can claim and add to their collection. These are claimed from a specific storefront, app or code, and once claimed they belong to your account on that channel. Amazon’s October 2026 schedule has ten titles:

The schedule is dated, so treat it as the October 2026 lineup. At the time of writing (8 October 2026), the October 1 and October 8 titles are scheduled to be available. The later titles are announced future availability, and their claim pages should be checked on the day they open. Ten titles is the count for this month’s schedule; it is not the size of Luna’s streaming catalog.

- Select Claim on the game you want.
- Read the instructions the offer displays, because they tell you what comes next.
What happens after that depends on the offer. Some require you to link an existing account on the storefront or launcher. Some give you a code to redeem on another storefront, such as GOG or Legacy Games. Some titles require the Amazon Games app to be installed before the game can be added. There is no single launcher or one-click process that applies to every claim, so check the redemption route for each game before you start.

Eligibility has several limits that catch readers out:
- One claim per household. Only one member of an Amazon Household or Family can claim an offer.
- Trial limits. Some student and young-adult trial periods have restrictions.
- Prime Video-only trials outside Prime regions. Some of these do not include the free channel subscription.
Those rules are set out on Amazon’s UK support page, and they may differ by country. If you are outside the UK, check your local Luna help page before assuming the same terms apply.

What to check before you rely on it
- Your location for streaming. Luna library access depends on where cloud delivery is available. Amazon does not state that every country has the same catalog.
- Your location for PC claims. A PC game can be claimable even where cloud streaming is not available, but the sources behind this article do not establish which countries can claim each title.
- Device support. Controller and keyboard-and-mouse support varies by game. A controller is not needed for every title, but check each game’s listing before you buy peripherals to play it.
- The offer page itself. Monthly offers, claim windows and redemption instructions change. The October schedule above is accurate for October 2026 only.
The short answer
If you want to play without installing anything, the Luna library is the route to check, but expect the catalog to rotate and to depend on where cloud delivery is available. If you want to own a game, use the monthly PC claims: check the storefront or code for each title, confirm your household has not already used the offer, and claim it on its scheduled date.
Amazon Luna and Prime Gaming are the same benefit under two names. The “free games” you get are a rotating streaming library plus a small monthly list of claimable PC titles, each with its own rules.
