Blade is Yingxing, a former member of the High-Cloud Quintet whose history is bound to Dan Feng, the previous incarnation of Dan Heng. But Dan Heng is his own person—not simply Dan Feng returned—and the game establishes no romance between them.
Who were Blade and Dan Heng before their paths crossed?
Blade’s former identity was Yingxing, a craftsman who belonged to the High-Cloud Quintet. The group also included Dan Feng, the Vidyadhara High Elder and Dan Heng’s previous incarnation. The game’s [official Dan Heng profile] frames Dan Heng as someone confronting the legacy of his previous life, while the [High-Cloud Quintet lore record] identifies Yingxing and Dan Feng among the group’s members.
What happened between Yingxing and Dan Feng?
The Quintet’s history became tragic after Baiheng’s death. Game lore associates Yingxing and Dan Feng with an attempt to bring her back and with the disastrous consequences that followed. The available accounts connect those events to the Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae, but do not justify filling in every causal detail with speculation. The [Dan Feng lore record] recounts this history.
Yingxing was transformed into the person now known as Blade. His own voice-line excerpt captures the group’s burden: “Of five people, three must pay the price…” The line is reproduced in the [High-Cloud Quintet lore record].

Why does Blade target Dan Heng?
Blade’s anger is rooted in what happened with Dan Feng and the Quintet. Because Dan Heng is Dan Feng’s reincarnation, Blade treats him as connected to that old grievance. That does not make them the same person: Dan Heng has his own identity, even as he must reckon with what his previous life left behind.
Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae expresses that distinction in a character-story line: “My previous life is like a faint shadow — hardly visible yet following me wherever I go.” The quote appears in the [Dan Feng lore record]. Blade’s grievance has a past-life basis; it should not be read as proof that Dan Heng shares Dan Feng’s personality or choices.

Are Blade and Dan Heng canonically romantic?
No. The established story supports a painful historical connection and antagonism, not a romantic relationship. Fans may pair the characters or interpret their dynamic romantically, but that is fan interpretation rather than confirmed canon.
What is known about their relationship now?
The cited character profiles and lore summaries explain the history behind Blade’s grudge, but do not establish a definitive, version-current account of whether the two have reconciled. HoYoverse has announced English text and story-dialogue optimizations in its [Version 3.8 notice], so older transcriptions may differ from current in-game wording. Avoid treating any particular present-day status as settled without the relevant later scenes.
