CLICKOLDING is a dark, incremental narrative game about clicking a tally counter for a masked man in a hotel room. It is a single-player, mature story designed to be played in one sitting—and its content warning includes suggestive language and a depiction of suicide.
What is CLICKOLDING about?
Strange Scaffold’s official Steam description sets up a deliberately uncomfortable premise: “The man in the corner of your hotel room wants you to click something. He wants to watch you click it.” That something is a tally counter. The central interaction is simple; the unease comes from doing it for the man and wondering what the encounter means.
The game is an incremental narrative rather than a conventional action game. Its official listing describes it as mature storytelling intended for one sitting, and lists single-player support. The basic premise can be understood without knowing how the story develops; staying spoiler-light is the best way to approach its unfolding consequences.
Content warning: what should players know?
Before deciding whether to play, note the developer-provided warning on Steam: “This game contains mature themes and imagery, including suggestive language and depiction of suicide.” The warning does not detail the context or extent of that material, so players who need more specific content information should not assume the listing answers every question.

Updates after launch
Strange Scaffold’s Steam news listing records Patch 3 on August 2, 2024. The update notes cite added postgame dialogue and Twitch integration, pacing improvements in the back half, and optimization and stability fixes. Those notes describe the changes recorded for that patch, not a promise about ongoing support.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is there a physical tally counter to buy?
The tally counter is part of the game’s premise, not a required accessory: the official listings describe a digital Windows game and do not say players need a real counter. A physical counter could be an optional novelty prop, but it is not necessary to play. Strange Scaffold also announced CLICKOLDING shirts with The Yetee on its Steam community page; that announcement alone does not establish current stock, where shirts are available, or any affiliate arrangement.
