“Tarkov meets DayZ” is a comparison used in a May 2024 VentureBeat headline, not an official genre label or a verified one-to-one match. Decimated is described by its developer as a post-apocalyptic, open-world PvPvE survival RPG. As of October 8, 2026, the official site labels it open alpha on PC through the Epic Games Store; Steam, by contrast, lists the game as coming soon and says a Steam open alpha is planned for 2026.
What is Decimated?
Decimated is a multiplayer survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Developer Fracture Labs describes it as an open-world PvPvE survival RPG in a persistent online setting, where players complete missions, fight enemies, and compete across three factions. The official setting features abandoned cities, hostile wastelands, and a cyborg police force. Fracture Labs’ official site
The game’s listed features include faction-based PvPvE, vehicles, jetpacks, parkour, mission progression, leaderboards, and rewards. Steam describes it as a third-person online survival game, with scavenging, combat, cooperation, missions, and vehicle combat. Its store-page description also mentions gathering food, water, fuel, weapons, and ammunition, treating wounds, and using safehouses and safes. Does Decimated really play like Escape from Tarkov and DayZ?
The comparison comes from VentureBeat’s May 28, 2024 headline, “Tarkov meets DayZ in Decimated.” It is useful as a shorthand for a survival game with multiplayer combat, scavenging, and PvP/PvE elements, but it should not be read as proof that Decimated shares either game’s specific mechanics, pacing, or gameplay loop. The official descriptions identify Decimated as a post-apocalyptic third-person PvPvE survival RPG; they do not claim direct equivalence to Escape from Tarkov or DayZ. VentureBeat’s 2024 article

For a practical comparison, focus on the details the developer actually publishes: whether you can access the game on your platform, how faction and mission play work, which survival and progression systems are implemented, and whether your PC meets the listed requirements. The distinction between playable features and roadmap plans matters particularly here because the game is still in development.
Can you play Decimated now, and on what platforms?
As of October 8, 2026, Fracture Labs’ official site says Decimated is in open alpha, still in development, and available on PC through the Epic Games Store. The site says Steam, console, and mobile versions are planned.
The Steam listing gives a different platform status: it labels the game “Coming soon,” describes its release as “Coming Soon To Early Access,” and says an open alpha on Steam is planned for 2026, subject to change. It also states the game is not yet available on Steam. These statements do not establish that Steam access has launched. Check the relevant store page for the latest availability before making plans to play.
Which features are playable, and which are planned?
Steam separates its initial Early Access feature list from features it expects to add later. Both lists are developer-provided plans for a game in development, not confirmation that every item is currently available or guaranteed to ship as described.

Features listed for the initial Early Access offering
Steam’s initial list describes multiplayer third-person combat with PvP and PvE, and three classes: human citizens, cyborg cops, and wasteland marauders. It also lists grenades, jetpacks, parkour, friendly and enemy NPCs, 150 missions, 29 vehicles, dozens of weapons, and multiple characters. Treat these as the store listing’s description of the intended initial offering, rather than a verified inventory of the open alpha.
Features listed for later development
Steam lists additional character classes and cybernetic augmentations, character progression and skills, advanced vehicle systems, trade routes and shipments, weapon and armor durability and upgrades, crafting, markets, user-generated content, PvE instances with AI enemies and bosses, and meta gameplay among its planned later features. These are roadmap items, not confirmed current systems.

Price and monetization
Steam says Decimated will be free to play, with additional content available for purchase after release. That is the developer’s store-page statement about its intended model; it does not establish current monetization or guarantee that future terms will remain unchanged.
