EA announced Team Builder as a web-based way to create and share custom teams for Madden NFL 25. The game’s Franchise updates included a rebuilt NFL Draft night and a redesigned Franchise Central, but official EA sources reviewed do not confirm that Franchise mode was inspired by the NFL Head Coach series.
What Team Builder does in Madden NFL 25
In its June 14, 2024 announcement, EA presented Team Builder as part of Madden NFL 25’s customization features. The browser-based tool lets users upload a logo, choose team colors, design uniforms, create roster players, and share or download their creations. EA reiterated the feature description in its August 16, 2024 launch announcement.

Team Builder is separate from the console or PC game itself: you make the team through EA’s website, then use compatible Team Builder content in Franchise. The practical question is therefore both whether the web tool works on your device and whether your particular Madden edition supports using the team in-game.
What changed in Madden NFL 25 Franchise
Draft night
EA described a rebuilt NFL Draft night experience featuring commissioner Roger Goodell. The announcement identifies this as a Franchise update, rather than a feature of the Team Builder website.

Franchise Central and storylines
EA also announced a redesigned Franchise Central, with dynamic storylines and strategic insights. In its Franchise deep dive, EA said the mode would include “more than 70 brand new dynamic storylines.” That number is EA’s announced feature count, not an independent assessment of how the storylines play or how often they appear.
Was Madden NFL 25 Franchise inspired by NFL Head Coach?
The claim in the original headline—that Franchise mode would be inspired by the NFL Head Coach series—is not established by the official EA announcements cited here. EA’s described features include Team Builder, draft night, Franchise Central, dynamic storylines, and strategic insights, but those descriptions do not substantiate an NFL Head Coach connection. Treat the inspiration claim as unverified, not as a confirmed EA promise.

EA later described Coach DNA in its July 2, 2025 Madden NFL 26 Franchise deep dive, saying that system drew on nearly a decade of real NFL data. That is a feature description for a later game and does not confirm that Madden NFL 25 was inspired by the NFL Head Coach series.

- Create the team in a desktop browser. EA Help directs users to a desktop browser and says mobile devices are not officially supported. Its current guidance says tablets with at least 8 GB of RAM may access the tool; this is EA’s current help-page guidance and could change.
- Check support for your Madden edition and platform. EA’s current Team Builder help page lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC versions of Madden NFL for using Team Builder content in Franchise. That current general list should not be read as confirmation of compatibility with the original 2024 Madden NFL 25 release on every listed platform.
- Share or download the creation, then use it in Franchise if your edition supports it. EA describes sharing and downloading as Team Builder features. Confirm the instructions and compatibility for your specific game edition in EA Help before relying on a cross-platform or newer-edition workflow.
Madden NFL 25 was announced June 14, 2024, with a worldwide launch date of August 16, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, according to EA’s announcement. Those launch platforms describe the original release; they are distinct from the current, broader platform list on EA’s help page.
