To do well, follow the current round’s briefing, prioritize its scoring objectives, and coordinate your squad rather than chasing eliminations by habit.
How does Gauntlet work?
EA describes Gauntlet as a tournament-style competition for eight four-player squads. Each round gives squads a five-minute window to complete a mission; locations and missions can vary. Teams earn points through mission actions, and squads that score too little may be eliminated before the next round. See EA’s Battlefield REDSEC FAQ for the round format.
At launch, EA described a format in Fort Lyndon with four randomized missions. Squads could score through objectives, kills, and support, with lower-scoring teams eliminated after missions and the remaining squads meeting in a final mission. The launch overview listed eight mission varieties. Those are launch-era details, not a guarantee that the live playlist has the same mission pool or structure; check the in-game mode briefing for what is currently in rotation. Examples of Gauntlet missions
- Decryption: Collect and protect locator beacons while they transmit.
- Wreckage: Find and transport bombs, then detonate them at hostile M-COMs.
- Vendetta: Eliminate marked enemy High Value Targets while protecting your own.
- Circuit: Capture and defend control terminals; larger networks earn more points.
These examples come from EA’s launch overview. The objective and scoring rules shown in your current round’s briefing take precedence.

How do you win Gauntlet?
There is no single objective or loadout that fits every round: the mission draw changes, and the briefing tells you which actions contribute to that round’s score. EA’s REDSEC New Player Guide recommends watching the pre-operation briefing, playing the objective, and communicating clearly.
Read the briefing before deploying
Use the pre-operation sequence to learn the mission and identify which actions score points. Make sure the squad understands the win condition before splitting up or pushing forward.
Prioritize the mission’s scoring rules
EA identifies Contract as the exception focused on kills and deaths; its other Gauntlet experiences reward objective play over eliminations. In rounds other than Contract, pursuing kills without advancing the mission can cost your squad valuable score. Follow the scoring rules displayed for the round you are playing.

Make a simple squad plan
Agree on who will capture, defend, carry, or support before the push. Use pings, voice chat, or text chat to share targets and adjust when the objective changes. Clear coordination helps the squad work toward the same score instead of duplicating effort.

Because missions and locations vary, a fixed plan is less useful than assigning roles around the current objective. For example, a squad handling a transport task may need to protect the carrier, while a control-point mission calls for capturing and defending terminals. This is a practical application of the variable round format and EA’s briefing advice, not a universal developer-prescribed tactic.
How is Gauntlet different from REDSEC Battle Royale?
Gauntlet is a round-based elimination competition in which squads earn score through mission actions and can be eliminated between rounds. Battle Royale is a separate survival mode. That distinction describes the formats; it is not a full comparison of every current mode rule or feature.

Is Gauntlet available in Battlefield 6 REDSEC?
REDSEC is a free-to-play standalone experience, and EA says you do not need to own Battlefield 6 to play it. However, EA announced that Gauntlet would leave the active playlist lineup with Season 5. EA cited the mode’s smaller share of REDSEC play and the resulting matchmaking difficulty, especially in smaller regions, while leaving open the possibility of a future return. The announcement does not establish the exact implementation on every platform or the current playlist state in every region, so check the in-game playlist for availability. What changed in later Gauntlet variants?
EA’s April 2, 2026 community update described two dated developments. VL-7 Smoke was set to return as a permanent mission modifier with the Hunter/Prey update, appearing randomly in selected combat areas and making gas masks a tactical consideration. EA also described Gauntlet: Nightfall as a limited-time variant: six teams of three played three rounds—Vendetta, Contract, and Heist—at a dark, night-vision-enabled Hagental Base. These are historical update details, not confirmation that Nightfall is currently playable. EA’s update is titled Nightfall Debrief and What’s Next.

In the same April 2, 2026 update, EA reported Season 1 activity totals of more than 190 million Gauntlet matches, 9.2 million Vendetta kills, 13.8 million Wreckage bombs detonated, 23.3 million Decryption calibrations completed, and 2.25 million Heist cases stolen. These are EA-reported Season 1 figures, not current totals.
