EA’s latest detailed Battlefield 6 roadmap update lists Season 5 for winter 2026, with three new maps, Platoons, a Server Browser and Multiplayer Leaderboards. EA says the game will continue into 2027, but its October 1 outlook does not give a dated 2027 schedule. These are plans, not guarantees: EA says content and features may change after testing and player feedback.

What arrived in Season 4?
Season launch: Tsuru Reef and naval combat
Season 4 launched on July 21, 2026, at 12:00 UTC. EA described Tsuru Reef as a large-scale island-chain map built for naval, land and air combat, and brought Naval Warfare back to Multiplayer. Season vehicles included the RCB-90 patrol boat and 7.7m NSW RHIB. The details are in EA’s Season 4 launch article, published July 17.

EA’s July 30 update laid out two further phases: August’s Phase 2 was to add Custom Lobbies, Spectator Mode and Wake Island; September’s Phase 3 was to add Proximity Chat. Custom Lobbies were described as allowing hosts to assign teams and choose match settings, initially for Battle Royale Quads and Conquest. EA said Proximity Chat would first be tested in Battle Royale through Battlefield Labs in Live, with Multiplayer considered for a later date.

In its October 1 retrospective, EA said the first year had brought back Railway to Golmud and Wake Island and added Naval Warfare. That is EA’s retrospective account; what is available in a live game can depend on its updates and platform version.
What is planned for Season 5?
Three maps, with locations not yet announced
EA’s July 30 update listed three new maps for Season 5, planned for winter 2026. At that time, it had not revealed their locations. EA described one as designed for infantry combat and the other two for larger combined-arms battles. The same update listed later-season reworks for Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City.

Platoons, Server Browser and Leaderboards
- Platoons: planned tools for creating or joining groups and representing and organizing them in-game.
- Server Browser: planned as an option alongside matchmaking, not a replacement for it. EA said it would be tested in Battlefield Labs before the planned Season 5 release.
- Multiplayer Leaderboards: planned to let players track and compare Multiplayer performance.
“Winter” is the timing EA gave; the July 30 update did not specify a particular date. EA also said the three map locations were not ready to reveal, so names or settings should not be treated as confirmed.
Is Multiplayer Ranked coming in Season 5?
EA has not confirmed that. In its July 30 update, the company said it was continuing development and evaluating the rules and supporting systems, but had no firm release window. The roadmap therefore does not establish Ranked as a Season 5 or 2026 release.

What is planned for Battlefield 6 in 2027?
EA’s October 1, 2026 update says Season 5 begins the game’s second year of content and that support will continue through 2027. It previews areas of work rather than a dated calendar:
- Vehicle gameplay, gunplay systems and explosive balance.
- An improved firing range.
- Weapon visuals and animations.
- Balance work for bolt-action sniper rifles.
EA described these as work under consideration, subject to change after testing. The update does not name 2027 seasons, give launch windows or confirm that every exploratory item will ship. The Battlefield Team put it this way: “Season 5 is only the beginning of our second year of content and evolution.”
How firm is the roadmap?
Use the roadmap as a guide to EA’s stated plans, not a guaranteed delivery schedule. The October 1 update says features may change, be delayed or be removed based on Battlefield Labs testing and player feedback. Timing also varies in precision: Season 4 had a specific start date, Season 5 was given a broad winter window, and the 2027 outlook had no dated schedule.
