It is not a universal winner: the best home site depends on the map and whether you prioritize travel, existing infrastructure, or room to customize.
How to choose a home site
Compare bases on three practical factors: how conveniently they sit relative to your routes and objectives, how much usable room they offer your community, and what facilities are already in place versus what you want to build yourself. A base that excels on one factor may be less convenient on another.

Best broad recommendation: Farmland Compound
Farmland Compound is in Trumbull Valley. Undead Labs describes it as a large group of buildings near the middle of the map that can become self-sufficient. The guide recommends it for its location, available slots, and built-in facilities, making it a sensible pick for an established community that values room and existing infrastructure.

Also in Trumbull Valley, the Red Talon Daybreak FOB comes with advanced facilities that Undead Labs says are normally unlocked through Daybreak. The guide notes that several facilities need repairs before they can be used, so its built-in advantages may require work first.
Cascade Hills option: Container Fort
The guide considers Container Fort one of Cascade Hills’ strongest late-game bases. Its trade-off is location: the guide cautions that it may be less convenient for travel than other choices.

The guide highlights Mike’s Concrete for its position on a key road through Drucker County. That location may be useful in a region where the terrain can make getting around more difficult.
Include outposts in your base plan
Your home site is only part of your community’s setup. Undead Labs’ Update 25 – Plague Territory says resource outposts have two upgrade levels and that you can change the strategy chosen when claiming an outpost later from the base screen. Factor outposts into your plans for resources and flexibility rather than judging a home site in isolation.
