Weapon durability in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the limited amount of use a weapon can take before it wears out and breaks. Fuse can help: some materials increase durability, but the effect depends on what you attach.
How weapon durability works
Durability is the finite-use property behind a weapon breaking after repeated use. Nintendo’s player guidance explains ways to increase durability but does not publish exact hit counts or a complete weapon-by-weapon formula, so there is no supported universal number of strikes to expect.
How Fuse can make a weapon last longer
At In-isa Shrine, Link learns Fuse, which attaches objects to weapons, shields, or arrows. Nintendo says fused materials can increase durability, raise attack power, or add effects; these outcomes depend on the material, and not every attachment improves durability. Nintendo’s 18 May 2023 guidance names rocks, boulders, and monster parts such as horns and fangs as useful examples. Its official game guide likewise points to boulders and enemy horns, while cautioning that materials vary.
Choose materials by what you need
When choosing an attachment, consider whether it adds durability, how it affects attack power, and whether it adds a useful combat effect. Nintendo does not provide a numerical comparison of those benefits, so try unfamiliar materials and observe their results rather than assuming every Fuse combination makes a weapon sturdier.

Can you remove a fused material?
Yes. In the inventory, select “Destroy fused material” to return the weapon to its original form. The attached material is lost; Nintendo’s instructions do not describe this as a way to keep or recover it.

Nintendo Life’s 6 June 2023 guide reports that Rock Octoroks can restore a weapon’s durability by swallowing and spitting it back out. The guide says each Octorok can repair one weapon before it must respawn after a Blood Moon. This is secondary gameplay guidance, not a Nintendo-published repair specification, and it does not establish that every weapon is compatible in every circumstance.
