Which Minecraft version should you use on Hypixel Bed Wars?
Hypixel Support’s version guide, dated October 4, 2025, says: “The best Minecraft versions for Hypixel are 1.8.9 and the latest release.” The same page lists supported releases as 1.8 and 1.21, and advises using official releases because snapshots may not connect.
Choose 1.8.9 for Hypixel’s older optimized option
Select 1.8.9 if you want to use the specific older version Hypixel calls out. Hypixel does not say that players must use it, or that it gives a measurable gameplay advantage over the latest release.
Choose the latest official release to stay current
Hypixel also recommends the latest official Minecraft release. Its guidance does not quantify a difference in frame rate, latency, hit registration, or win rate between that release and 1.8.9, so there is no official benchmark here that establishes one as faster or more competitive.

Check the edition and server before changing versions
Hypixel’s join instructions identify Bed Wars as one of its games and require a PC/Mac account, also called Java Edition. See Hypixel’s instructions for joining the server.
That answer is specific to Hypixel. Bed Wars is also offered on independently operated servers, and their supported versions can differ. For a different server, check its current version and edition requirements rather than assuming Hypixel’s guidance applies.
