Ghoul is the best default race for Buddha grinding if you have it unlocked. Its lifesteal suits Buddha’s close-range attacks and helps you stay in fights. Choose Cyborg instead if you value area damage, defense, and crowd utility. Neither is a universal winner: the right pick depends on whether you’re grinding, raiding, or playing PvP, and which race version you’ve unlocked.
Why Ghoul is the default pick for Buddha grinding
Buddha users rely on repeated close-range melee or sword attacks. Ghoul’s life leech helps sustain that style by restoring health as you deal damage. The Ghoul page specifically describes it as a strong fit for Buddha and notes that its V4 healing can be useful in PvE, particularly raids.
Ghoul also offers cooldown reduction at V3, according to the community-maintained Ghoul reference. That adds utility beyond healing, though the benefit depends on your build and which race stage you have unlocked.
When Cyborg may suit you better
Cyborg is a strong alternative if you want area damage, defense, and tools for handling groups. Its race page describes it as excellent for grinding and documents an area-damage V3 ability. It also notes that the Cyborg V4 jump works during Buddha transformation.

That transformation interaction is useful, but it does not establish that Cyborg levels faster than Ghoul. The choice is more about the kind of utility you want: Ghoul emphasizes sustain, while Cyborg brings area pressure and defensive options.

Unlocks and race versions matter
Ghoul and Cyborg are special races with separate unlock routes. The community-maintained races guide lists Ghoul through Experimic and Cyborg through the Cyborg puzzle, and describes race upgrades from V2 through V4. Previously unlocked special races have their own switching routes. Check the current in-game requirements before pursuing either route, since unlock details and race mechanics can change with updates.

- If you already have Ghoul, use it as your starting choice for Buddha PvE grinding, especially if staying healthy through repeated close-range attacks is your priority.
- Choose Cyborg if you prefer area damage, defensive utility, or its transformation-compatible V4 jump.
