Far Cry 6 is the base game. Gold Edition includes that same base game plus the Season Pass, which adds three post-game story expansions starring the franchise’s villains and the full game Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Classic Edition. Gold is not a separate campaign, so the main story is the same in both. What changes is how much extra playable content you receive.
What Gold Edition includes
Ubisoft’s launch announcement, dated July 12, 2020, lists Gold as the base game plus the Season Pass. Everything below is content that comes with that Season Pass.

Three villain story expansions
Ubisoft describes the Season Pass’s three episodes as post-game story expansions that let players take control of the villains. Each one is a separate episode:
| Episode | Villain you play as | Type of content |
|---|---|---|
| Vaas: Insanity | Vaas Montenegro | Post-game story expansion |
| Pagan: Control | Pagan Min | Post-game story expansion |
| Joseph: Collapse | Joseph Seed | Post-game story expansion |
Because these are presented as post-game episodes, they are not part of the standard base-game story path. Check the store page for your platform for the current wording before purchase.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Classic Edition
The Season Pass also includes Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Classic Edition. This is a complete separate game, not a cosmetic or a small add-on, so it adds a substantial amount of playable content on top of Far Cry 6.
Blood Dragon cosmetic content
The bonus content is described differently across listings. Ubisoft’s Gold product page uses general wording (“and more”) for extras. The Xbox Store listing itemizes a Blood Dragon Cosmetic Set. Confirm the exact cosmetic items on the storefront where you plan to buy, because the bundle can differ by platform.

Gold compared with Ultimate and Collector’s Edition
If you are choosing between Gold and other packages, the 2020 announcement is the reference point for the original structure. Current listings may differ, so verify them before purchase.
| Edition | Base game | Season Pass (three villain episodes and Blood Dragon Classic Edition) | Ultimate Pack (Jungle Expedition, Croc Hunter, Vice) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Far Cry 6 (base) | Yes | No | No |
| Gold Edition | Yes | Yes | No |
| Ultimate Edition | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Ultimate, as announced, adds the Ultimate Pack, which contains the Jungle Expedition, Croc Hunter, and Vice packs. The Collector’s Edition, as described in the same announcement, pairs digital content with physical collector items: a Tostador replica, steelbook, artbook, stickers, keyring, map, and soundtrack. Ultimate and Collector’s are not the same product as Gold, so compare the listed contents for each before deciding.

Should you buy Gold instead of the base game?
Gold makes sense when the Season Pass content is worth the difference in price to you. Work through these checks in order:
- Do you already own the Season Pass? If you bought it separately, buying Gold would duplicate it. Buy the base game instead.
- Do you want the villain episodes or Blood Dragon? If you only want the core Far Cry 6 campaign, the base game covers it.
- What is the price difference in your store and region? Compare the base-game listing with Gold on the same storefront. No universal price advantage for Gold is established; the difference varies by platform, region, and time.
- Does the listing include the content you expect? If you are considering Ultimate, confirm the Ultimate Pack is listed, since it is not part of Gold.
Platforms, dates, and listing details
Ubisoft’s US Store page for Gold Edition gives an October 7, 2021 release date and lists digital versions for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Steam. Those details and the included items are maintained by the storefronts and can change, and the listing for your platform or region may show different contents or availability. Treat the store page for your own platform as the final word on what you will receive.

The Ubisoft Help page covering the Season Pass, marked as updated July 27, 2026, notes that the pass is included with multiple editions, so the content list is consistent across packages that include it.
