EA Play is the standard membership. It gives access to EA’s rotating game library while you remain a member, a trial of select new releases, member rewards, and 10% off eligible EA digital purchases. EA Play Pro is the upgrade: it adds full premium editions of select new EA games on day one and the Pro Play List. The catch is platform. Pro is limited to EA’s PC platforms, so it is not an option for most console players.
Side-by-side comparison
| Decision axis | EA Play | EA Play Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Core library | The Play List, available while membership is active | The Pro Play List, which includes premium editions of select titles, available while membership is active |
| New releases | A trial of up to 10 hours with select new releases | Full premium editions of select new EA releases on day one |
| Discounts and rewards | 10% off eligible EA digital purchases and member rewards | 10% off eligible EA digital purchases and select monthly in-game rewards |
| Platforms | Xbox, PlayStation, and PC (through the EA app, Epic Games Store, or Steam); Mac through the EA app. Benefits apply to the platform where you joined. | Available only through the EA app, limited to EA’s PC platforms, according to EA’s FAQ. The same FAQ says Mac is supported through the EA app. |
| US price shown by EA | $5.99 per month or $39.99 per year | $16.99 per month. The annual price is not settled across EA’s pages: $119.99 per year on one EA page and $199.99 per year on another EA FAQ result. |
| Xbox Game Pass | Included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass for PC, according to EA | Sold separately. Game Pass does not include Pro. |
All prices and benefits are set by EA, can vary by region and platform, and can be changed by EA. Treat the table as a snapshot of EA’s published terms as of 2026, not a guarantee.
What the new-release benefits really offer
The gap between the two plans is mostly about how you get to play new games. The difference is easy to miss because both are described as “new release” benefits.
- EA Play: a trial of up to 10 hours with select new releases. You can play the start of the game, but it is not ownership, and you do not get the full game on launch.
- EA Play Pro: instant access to premium versions of select new EA titles on day one, as EA’s FAQ puts it. Pro is the only one of the two plans that gets you full premium-edition access on release.
Availability is title-specific under both plans. A new EA release that is not on the list for a given plan gets no special access, so check the current title lists before you pay for a plan based on one game.

Platform availability
Platform is the factor that most often rules out Pro, so check it first.
- If you play on Xbox or PlayStation, EA Play is the plan that applies. Pro is not offered for those consoles under EA’s stated terms.
- If you play on PC, both plans are candidates. Pro is available only through the EA app.
- If you play on Mac, EA Play is supported through the EA app. EA’s FAQ says Pro is supported on Mac through the EA app too, but its wording elsewhere is “PC platforms,” so confirm this in the Pro FAQ before buying.
In both cases, membership benefits are tied to the platform where you joined. Joining through one storefront does not give you the same entitlements on another.

Pricing and the annual Pro discrepancy
The monthly prices from EA’s membership page are consistent. The annual Pro price is not. EA’s pages show $119.99 per year on one page and $199.99 per year on another FAQ result, both reviewed in 2026. Until you confirm the figure, do not use either number to calculate yearly value.
To check the price before you subscribe:
- Open the EA Play membership page on EA’s official site and note the Pro price for your country.
- Start the purchase for your platform (EA app, Xbox, PlayStation, Epic Games Store, or Steam, depending on where you buy) and choose the annual billing period.
- Compare the amount shown at checkout with the figure on EA’s page. Use the checkout amount, since it is the price you will pay.
Regional pricing can differ from the US figures in the table, so local checkout is the final authority.

- Build your legacy in Manager Career with a rebuilt Transfer Market and Dynamic OVRs, then create your dream squad in Football Ultimate Team and showcase your achievements in the new FUT Gallery.
Game Pass
EA says that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass for PC include EA Play. Pro is sold separately, so a Game Pass subscription does not give you Pro. If you already subscribe to one of those Game Pass tiers, you may not need to pay for EA Play separately, though EA’s terms on the tier and platform should be checked.
Cancellation and save files
When you cancel, membership benefits end when the current billing period expires. Access to library games does not continue after that date. EA’s FAQ says save files remain if you rejoin EA Play later, so you do not lose progress by letting a membership lapse.

Which plan fits
EA Play is the better choice for most people. It is cheaper, works on more platforms, and covers the standard library, trials, rewards, and the discount.
- Choose EA Play if you play on a console, want a lower-cost way to play from the standard Play List, or only want to sample new releases.
- Consider EA Play Pro if you play on a supported PC platform and specifically want full premium-edition access to eligible new EA releases on day one.
- Do not buy Pro on the assumption that it is better value across the board. Its value depends on the specific titles you want, your platform, how often you play, how much you use the rewards and discounts, and the price in your region at checkout.
Compare current title lists rather than assuming any particular game will stay in the library. Titles and benefits change over time.
