Minecraft’s Drowned error means the game had a problem signing in to your Microsoft account. Minecraft Help lists it for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and recommends refreshing the sign-in session, updating the game, checking your platform’s service status, then changing your Microsoft account password if the earlier steps fail.
What does the Drowned error mean?
“Drowned” is the label for a Microsoft account sign-in problem in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. The code alone does not establish that your account is banned, compromised, or subject to a restriction, and Minecraft Help does not identify one universal underlying cause. Minecraft Help’s Drowned error guide gives the current official explanation and troubleshooting sequence.
How to fix Minecraft’s Drowned sign-in error
Try these steps in order, moving to the next one if the error persists.
-
Refresh your Microsoft account session
Use Minecraft Help’s reset-sign-in instructions to refresh the account session in Minecraft, then try signing in again.

Update Minecraft
Install the latest available version for your device. The official guide links to update instructions for mobile, consoles, and Bedrock on PC; follow the instructions for your platform.
-
Check your platform’s service status
Use the status link that applies to your device or store platform: Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Apple, or Google Play. If that service is experiencing problems, wait for it to recover and try again. Service status can change, so check it when you encounter the error rather than assuming there is an outage.
-
Change your Microsoft account password if the other steps fail
Minecraft Help says changing the password forces a fresh sign-in and should resolve the issue. After changing it, sign in again using the new credentials.
Windows-only follow-up: Xbox services
If the issue continues on Windows, the Mojang bug-tracker page for MCPE-120083 includes additional advice to check whether Xbox Live Auth Manager, Xbox Live Game Save, or Xbox Live Networking Service has its startup type set to Disabled; if so, the page advises changing it to Manual. This is platform-specific advice on the issue page, not Minecraft Help’s main troubleshooting sequence or a guaranteed fix. The tracker also contains historical reports across platforms, which do not show that every case has the same cause.

When the error keeps returning
Confirm that you have tried the sign-in refresh, installed the current game update, checked the relevant service status, and—if needed—changed the Microsoft account password. For the official list of Minecraft error-code help topics, see Minecraft Help’s Error Code Troubleshooting section.
