The four-digit code is 3842. It is not a code for the Green Key itself. You use the Green Key on the Green Door, and the 3842 keypad is in the room beyond that door, in Chapter 1 of Cheese Escape [Horror] on Roblox.
Where the Green Key fits in the route
The Green Key and the keypad are two separate steps. The key only opens the Green Door. The number code is entered later, at a keypad inside the room that the door leads to. Entering 3842 at the Green Door itself, or trying to use the key on the keypad, will not solve the puzzle.
How to enter 3842
- Collect the Green Key in Chapter 1 and use it on the Green Door.
- Walk into the glowing entrance beyond the Green Door. The room that follows is slowed and played from a first-person view.
- Find the keypad in that room. Beside it, the numbers 2, 4, 8, and 3 are displayed, spaced apart from one another.
- Read those digits from bottom to top. That gives 3842.
- Enter 3842 on the keypad.
Why the reading order matters
The digits are not presented in the order you enter them. If you read them top to bottom, or left to right as they appear on screen, you get a different sequence that will not open the keypad. The bottom-to-top reading is the detail most often missed, and it is the one the Cheese Escape Wiki’s Unknown room page spells out explicitly.
If the code is not working
- Check you are at the right keypad. The code belongs to the keypad beyond the Green Door. If you have not yet used the Green Key, you have not reached it.
- Re-check the reading order. Use bottom to top, not the order the digits appear across the display.
- Check the game version. Roblox experiences can be updated by their creator, and a future update could move or change the puzzle. The Roblox listing for the game, by @Spirow734, describes three chapters and one secret ending. At the time its listing was checked, the text said Chapter 4 was in development, so later chapters may change the route.
What is and is not established
The 3842 code and its bottom-to-top reading are documented consistently across the Cheese Escape Wiki’s Unknown room page, its Chapter 1 page, and its Chapter 1 walkthrough. Community walkthroughs also list the same Green Door-to-keypad sequence: a December 2023 YouTube walkthrough by codeshunterx4 includes a segment on the Green Door and four-digit code, and a April 2022 complete guide by Croc lists the code route in its Chapter 1 sequence. These are player-created sources, not official developer documentation, and they describe the game as it was when they were published.
