Galaxy Quest crossed into Star Trek Fleet Command as a limited-time in-game event announced on August 6, 2024, for the film’s 25th anniversary. It added characters, the NSEA Protector, missions and event mechanics to the mobile game; it did not make Galaxy Quest part of Star Trek’s screen canon.
What happened in the crossover?
Scopely and Paramount framed the event as a story in which Jason Nesmith and the crew of the NSEA Protector are thrown into the Star Trek Fleet Command universe. Their attempt to get home using the Omega 13 sends them back in time, where they meet James T. Kirk. The companies announced the collaboration on August 6, 2024, tying it to Galaxy Quest’s 25th anniversary. Scopely’s announcement describes a game crossover, not a change to film or television continuity.
The announcement named four Galaxy Quest characters and their performers: Jason Nesmith (Tim Allen), Gwen DeMarco (Sigourney Weaver), Laliari (Missi Pyle) and Alexander Dane (Alan Rickman). The event also included Galaxy Quest-themed hostiles and a server-wide confrontation involving Sarris and the Klingons.
What did Update 69 add to the game?
Update 69 detailed the playable content. It included story missions and cosmetics alongside new ship, invasion and Mirror Universe features.

The NSEA Protector and Omega 13
The NSEA Protector was introduced as an Explorer-type ship, listed as buildable by players at Operations level 40 or higher. Its Omega 13 ability can let a ship survive a battle that would otherwise destroy it. Update 69 said the ability could apply to the player or other players, and could be improved through research and the Sarris refit.
The invasion and level requirements
The phased invasion gave players different encounters according to Operations level. Players at level 25 or higher could fight Fatu-Krey hostiles and collect scraps. Chimera encounters required level 40 or higher and had a 10-round limit. Listed rewards included Gwen DeMarco shards, NSEA Protector blueprints, Mirror Dust, Syndicate XP and building resources.

Mirror Universe content
Update 69 also documented a Mirror Universe expansion. This was a separate gameplay addition within the update, alongside the Galaxy Quest storyline and invasion; the event announcement does not establish that it was part of the film’s story.
Why did the writers make it a new story?
The game’s narrative team said it wanted the crossover to transform the premise rather than simply retell the movie. Its writers considered what would happen if the Galaxy Quest crew entered a universe with different power dynamics and more powerful heroes. The team called it the first crossover in Star Trek Fleet Command history. In its account, it described Galaxy Quest as “A parody of Trek, but not one written with spite or ill intentions.”

Scopely’s VP and general manager Conor Crowley said the collaboration would pay homage to Star Trek fandom “in a hilarious way,” while staying true to both franchises. Paramount’s SVP of Games and Emerging Media Doug Rosen described it as a blend of humor and adventure.

The dates in the 2024 update are historical, not current offers. The Galaxy Quest Battle Pass ran from August 6 through August 18, 2024. The listed GQ5 and GQ7 promo codes were available through August 13, 2024.

Fleet Command continues as an online strategy game with alliances, ships, officer upgrades, missions and ongoing updates, according to its Google Play listing, which reports an app update on October 1, 2026. That current listing does not say whether the 2024 crossover event or its rewards can still be accessed. StarTrek.com describes the game as a free-to-play mobile strategy MMO featuring ships, officers and a Kelvin Timeline story.
