Roblox has no single holding period. The wait depends on what is being held: an item you bought, Robux pending from a sale, a creator’s avatar-item commission, or Creator Awards. The documented durations are up to 30 days for reselling a purchased Limited or Limited U, a holding period with no universal length for Experience Pass proceeds, 30 days for avatar-item commission escrow, and 60 days for Creator Awards. Work out which transaction applies first, then use the matching rule.
Holding periods at a glance
| Transaction | Documented period | What the hold affects |
|---|---|---|
| Reselling a purchased Limited or Limited U | Up to 30 days (a maximum, not an exact date) | When the item can be listed for resale |
| Experience Pass sale earnings | A holding period applies; the Support article gives no universal duration | When pending Robux move into your Robux total |
| Avatar-item creator commission | 30 days from the sale date | When the creator’s commission and Robux share leave escrow |
| Creator Awards | 60 days | When the award is finalized as Earned Robux |
| Trades and later resales of UGC Limited items | Up to 2 days for trades and up to 7 days for later resales, per a July 2023 announcement | Historical; not confirmed as current in the Support pages reviewed |
Reselling a purchased Limited or Limited U
When you buy a Limited or Limited U, it enters a holding period of up to 30 days and cannot be resold until that period ends. The 30 days is a ceiling. Some items may clear sooner, so do not calculate a fixed release date from the purchase day alone.
Roblox’s How to sell items article adds two conditions to resale:
- You need an active Roblox Plus subscription.
- The item must be an eligible Limited or Limited U that has already cleared its holding period.
To track completed sales and any Pending Robux, open My Transactions. For the item itself, open its details page and check its owned-item status. Roblox’s Understanding an item’s details page article also mentions legacy Premium in places, while the sales article names Roblox Plus. Subscription names and eligibility change, so confirm the requirement on the current Roblox page for your region before planning a resale.

Pending Robux from Experience Pass sales
Robux earned from Experience Pass sales does not appear in your balance right away. Roblox’s Experience Passes article states: “This pending status is called escrow.” The funds appear in your Robux total when the holding period ends.
That article gives no universal length for this hold. Treat any date you see as the one Roblox displays for that transaction, not as a number you can apply from a standard schedule. Do not assume that the 30-day Limited rule applies to Experience Pass earnings.

Avatar-item creator commissions
Roblox’s Marketplace fees and commissions page says it holds commissions from avatar-item sales for 30 days from the sale date. This is a creator earnings hold. It is separate from the waiting period for reselling a Limited, and the same 30-day figure should not be used for both.
Creator Awards
The Creator Rewards page says Creator Awards, where offered, are paid in Earned Robux with a 60-day holding period. The page points creators to DevEx terms for eligibility and for converting Robux to cash. The hold governs when the award is finalized, while DevEx terms govern whether and how it can be cashed out.

Older trade and resale timings
Roblox’s July 14, 2023 Developer Forum post, Updates to Item Holding Periods [Marketplace], described a change effective July 20, 2023. Original UGC Limited sales could have up to a 30-day hold, subsequent resales up to 7 days, and trades up to 2 days. Roblox said the change was meant to limit economic disruption if an account were compromised.
The Support pages reviewed confirm the up-to-30-day rule for Limited resale but do not confirm the 2- and 7-day figures. Treat those numbers as the 2023 policy at the time of the post, and check current Roblox documentation before relying on them.

When a hold status looks wrong
- Open My Transactions and find the sale or purchase. Note its date and whether it is listed as Pending.
- For an item, open its details page and confirm whether it is still in its holding period or has cleared.
- Compare the transaction type with the table above. A Limited resale, an Experience Pass payout, an avatar-item commission and a Creator Award each follow a different rule.
- If the status or date still seems wrong, contact Roblox Support about that specific transaction.
Roblox’s documentation describes no user setting or action that shortens or skips a hold, so there is no workaround to try.
Holding periods are set by Roblox and can be revised, so check the linked pages for the current wording before acting on a date.
