There is no fixed minimum level established for beating Sigrun. Santa Monica Studio combat designer Denny Yeh said the Valkyries were designed to be beatable by a level-1 Kratos, but that statement concerns the Valkyries generally—not a documented level-1 Sigrun victory. For a more practical target, one GameFAQs guide author recommends level 7 for a reasonable encounter. That is personal advice, not an official requirement.
What “minimum level” means for Sigrun
A level-1 attempt is theoretically possible under the designers’ intended combat rules, but theoretical feasibility is different from a comfortable or typical fight. Yeh described the Valkyrie encounters as optional endgame tests of combat fundamentals, including blocking, dodging, parrying, axe throws, Atreus’s arrows, and runic attacks. His statement does not establish that level 1 is a practical recommendation for Sigrun specifically.
Sigrun is the culmination of the Valkyrie fights. Yeh said she has almost every attack used by her sisters; the official account describes a move list of more than 25 attacks, with combo chains and variations. The challenge therefore depends heavily on recognizing and responding to her moves, not just reaching a particular character level. Santa Monica Studio’s explanation of how it created the Valkyrie challenge is the source for the designer’s comments.
What level should you aim for?
GameFAQs guide author Mogg recommends at least level 7 for a “reasonable difficulty encounter.” Treat that as one guide author’s practical target, not a minimum imposed by the game or confirmed by the developers. Mogg also reports fighting Sigrun at level 9 with fully upgraded Ivaldi armor and a fully upgraded Shattered Gauntlet of Ages. How to judge whether your setup is ready
- Use level 7 as a guide, not a gate. It is a recommendation for a reasonable attempt from one walkthrough author; the available sources do not establish that you must reach it.
- Prioritize learning Valkyrie responses. The designer frames these encounters around combat mechanics, and Sigrun combines a broad set of attacks and variations.
- Compare gear as well as level. Mogg’s level-9 account used fully upgraded Ivaldi armor and a fully upgraded Shattered Gauntlet of Ages. The sources do not establish an equivalent gear-score threshold or a reliable level-to-gear comparison.
- Expect your experience to matter. No published completion-level statistics or reliable comparisons by difficulty setting, equipment, or player skill are established in these sources.
Where to find Sigrun
Sigrun is summoned at the Council of Valkyries after you defeat the other eight Valkyries and place their helms on the thrones, according to Mogg’s walkthrough.
