The General Store shotgun code in Alan Wake 2 is 739. Enter it on the combination lock of the case holding Saga Anderson’s Sawed-Off Shotgun in the Cauldron Lake General Store. The code follows a pattern built from the codes already posted at the counter and a lottery ticket, so you can work it out yourself in a few minutes.
Where the puzzle takes place
The cabinet is in the Cauldron Lake General Store during the chapter titled Return 2 – The Heart. Speak with the store’s characters as the story requires, then inspect the shotgun case. Its note directs Saga to “Lady Fortuna at the counter,” and that is where the clues are.

How to solve it
- Inspect the shotgun case and read its note, which points to Lady Fortuna at the counter.
- At the counter, inspect the notepad. It lists four earlier combinations: 705, 713, 717, and 723.
- Inspect the lottery ticket. It lists six numbers: 05, 13, 17, 23, 39, and 45.
- Match each earlier code to a lottery number. Every code begins with 7 and ends with one of the lottery numbers, in the same order as the ticket.
- Take the next lottery number after 23, which is 39, and attach the 7 prefix to get 739.
- Enter 739 on the Sawed-Off Shotgun cabinet’s lock to open it and collect the weapon.
Why the pattern points to 739
The clue works because the four posted codes and the lottery numbers line up one-to-one:

The sequence advances through the ticket’s numbers in order. The ticket’s last two entries, 39 and 45, are the ones not yet used, so the next code is 739. The 45 is not needed for this lock.

Reward and sources
The reward is Saga’s Sawed-Off Shotgun. The code and its reasoning are reported consistently in walkthroughs from XboxAchievements.com (published October 28, 2023) and Dot Esports (published October 27, 2023). Both date from 2023, and the code is fixed in-game content, so it should match what you see in the store. If the lock does not open, first confirm you are in the General Store during the correct chapter and that you read the counter notepad and lottery ticket before entering the code.

- Forgetting the prefix. The codes all start with 7, so enter a three-digit number beginning with 7.
- Trying the lock before visiting the counter. The notepad and ticket are the only sources for the pattern.
The lock takes three digits. There is no hidden second combination to solve.
