Opening one adds a single Item to your inventory, and the Item is cosmetic: wheels, goal explosions, decals and similar car customization. Epic Games’ official Support page describes the reward range as running from Sport to Black Market rarity. It does not publish a current, item-by-item list for each Drop tier, so no article can give you a verified complete pool. What you can rely on is the category of item, the rarity range, the earning routes, and a set of dated examples from past seasons.
What a Drop contains
Official Support defines a Drop in plain terms: “A Drop adds an Item to your inventory when opened.” The Item is a digital customization piece for your car or profile. Drops are not physical merchandise and do not carry any value outside the game beyond what the game’s own trade features allow.
Item categories you can expect
Rocket League’s own 2020 explainer on Challenges, published August 26, 2020, described Drops as customization rewards and gave three examples of items they could contain: Zomba Wheels, Dueling Dragons Goal Explosions, and Heatwave Decals. Those examples came from the Blueprint and former Crate Series catalogue of that period. They show the kind of items involved, but the same source does not establish that these exact items remain in today’s pool.
The useful categories, based on that explanation, are:

- Goal Explosions, the effect that plays when you score.
- Decals, the designs applied to a car body.
Do not confuse Drop contents with the Rocket Pass. The Season 22 announcement, published March 6, 2026, names car bodies and accessories such as a Goal Explosion, an Antenna and a Topper as Rocket Pass content. That announcement does not say those items are Drop rewards, so they should not be assumed to appear in a Drop.
Rarity tiers and what each one is documented to mean
Drop rarity is labelled rather than numbered. The table below separates what the sources state about each label from what they leave open.

| Tier label | Where it is documented | What the sources establish | What is not stated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sport | Current Support range; Season 21 Weekly Challenge (patch notes, December 10, 2025) | Lowest label in the current Support range; a Season 21 Weekly Challenge awarded Sport Drops after ten Competitive wins | The item pool for this tier |
| Special | Season 21 Weekly Challenge and Challenge Stage rewards | Awarded as an extra Drop per Challenge Stage and as part of the final reward set for completing all Challenge Stages (Season 21) | The item pool, current quantities, or whether the same terms apply in later seasons |
| Deluxe | Season 21 Weekly Challenge and Challenge Stage rewards | Awarded in the same Season 21 Challenge structures as Special | The item pool or current availability |
| Import | Season 21 Challenge Stage completion reward | Included in the final reward set for completing all Challenge Stages (Season 21) | The item pool or current availability |
| Black Market | Current Support range | The top of the stated range | Its item pool, frequency, or current earning route |
Historically, Rocket League described Drops as starting at Uncommon, the 2020 label. Current Support uses “Sport” for the start of the range, so use the current wording when describing the general spread.
How players earn Drops
Support lists two earning routes for Drops: Challenge Rewards and the free Rocket Pass track. Exact eligibility depends on the season, so check the live menus in the game rather than relying on a past list.

- Open the Challenges screen from the main menu and read the reward line for each Challenge Stage.
- Open the Rocket Pass screen and scroll the free track to find Drop rewards at the tiers listed in that season’s terms.
- Open your inventory after claiming rewards to confirm the Item was added.
Season 21 offers a dated example of how these routes worked. Its patch notes, published December 10, 2025, said Drops returned beyond Rocket Pass Tier 70 as free rewards, that Challenge Stages awarded an extra Drop each, and that a repeatable Weekly Challenge gave Sport, Special and Deluxe Drops after ten Competitive wins. Completing all Challenge Stages also included one Special, one Deluxe and one Import Drop. These terms belonged to Season 21 and are not a promise for the current season.
Trading and trade-ins
Support says Player Support cannot exchange or swap Drop rewards for other items. Players can instead use the game’s trade-in function to exchange items.

The 2020 explainer described the system differently and gave a five-for-one trade-in example at that time. Received items were tradable to other players. That is historical context only, and the trade-in rules may have changed since then, so confirm the current terms in the game before planning around a trade.

The word “Drops” also appears in official esports announcements, where it refers to viewing rewards rather than in-game containers. In its February 18, 2026 announcement for the RLCS Boston Major, Rocket League described Twitch Drops and TikTok Drops for broadcasts on February 19 to 22, 2026. Players had to connect an Epic Games account to Twitch to unlock Twitch Drops. That event has ended. Any future viewing reward campaign will have its own announcement, which should set out the account requirements and dates.

What is and is not known
Official sources do not publish item-drop probabilities for any tier, and this article does not estimate them. There is therefore no basis for ranking tiers by expected value or for predicting what a particular Drop will contain. The most recent official season material cited here is dated March 6, 2026, so later seasons may have changed the rewards, quantities and earning terms.
Readers asking what they can actually get should treat the Support definition and the Season 21 examples as a framework, then check the live Challenges and Rocket Pass screens for the current contents.
