Xbox’s September 3, 2024 announcement listed five games arriving on Game Pass, led by Age of Mythology: Retold, and six games scheduled to leave on September 15. These are historical schedule details, not confirmation of what is in the Game Pass catalog today.
Game Pass additions announced for September 2024
Xbox’s Megan Spurr announced the lineup on September 3, 2024. Dates and platform labels below are the ones Xbox listed at the time.
| Game | Announced date | Platforms listed by Xbox | Day one? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Star Trucker | September 3, 2024 | Cloud, Console, PC | No |
| Age of Mythology: Retold | September 4, 2024 | Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S | Yes |
| Expeditions: A MudRunner Game | September 5, 2024 | Cloud, Console, PC | No |
| Riders Republic | September 11, 2024 | Cloud, Console, PC | No |
| Train Sim World 5 | September 17, 2024 | Cloud, Console, PC | Yes |
Xbox described Age of Mythology: Retold and Train Sim World 5 as day-one Game Pass releases. Its platform labels were not identical across titles: for example, the announcement named Xbox Series X|S specifically for Age of Mythology: Retold, while it used the broader “Console” label for several other games. Xbox Wire’s September 3 lineup post has the original schedule.
Why Age of Mythology: Retold was the headline arrival
Age of Mythology: Retold is a real-time strategy game and a modern retelling of the 2002 original. In a June 2024 Xbox Wire interview, the developers described campaigns drawing on Egyptian mythology, human and mythological units, and Hero units that are especially effective against mythological enemies. The interview also noted that pantheons have distinct biomes and architecture.

God Powers and the Wonder age
The developers said God Powers could recharge and be used more than once, making their timing a strategic choice. Earnest Yuen of World’s Edge explained the change this way: “God Powers are the coolest thing you can do in the game, so we’re making it so they can be used multiple times, and you can think about how to do it strategically.” The game also adds a Wonder age, in which God Powers cost less. World’s Edge’s Emma Bridle summed up the resulting experience: “It’s just chaos,” she said. These are details and characterizations reported in Xbox Wire’s June 12 interview, not an independent review.

The September post also mentioned Valorant Episode 09: Act II and Dead by Daylight: Castlevania updates, followed by the Ark: Survival Ascended Aberration and Bob’s Tall Tales: Steampunk Ascent updates for September 5. It listed Ultimate Perks as well. These were updates, add-ons, or member perks—not extra full-game arrivals in the lineup.
