That was a plan at the time, not a promise of a fixed release schedule: Version 50 has since shipped, and the game has moved on to later updates.
What Zeekerss said about Version 50
In a February 9, 2024 post on X, as reported the following day by Windows Central, Zeekerss said: “I’m distracted by my life right now, but I have Version 50 slowly cooking. I could release it now, but I want it to be really substantial.” The developer added that updates might become “bigger and less frequent.”
The distinction matters: Zeekerss described a direction under consideration, not a guaranteed cadence or release timetable. Windows Central also reported broad earlier plans for map variation and more creatures, but those ideas were not a complete final patch list.
What the “alien zoo” line meant
Zeekerss said they wanted content updates to feel “like I broke into an alien zoo and released all the animals.” It was a metaphor for chaotic, creature-rich updates—not confirmation of a specific roster of new monsters. The February 2024 comments conveyed the kind of energy the developer wanted future content to have, rather than itemizing Version 50’s contents.

Is Version 50 still upcoming?
No. Version 50 later released in 2024. The official Steam announcement calls it “The Hopping Update”; the available announcement record also lists later updates, including Version 70 in 2025 and Version 80 in 2026. See the official Lethal Company Steam announcements for the update history.
The February 2024 tease should therefore be read as a snapshot of the developer’s plans at that time. It does not, by itself, establish what made the final Version 50 build. For a definitive breakdown of what shipped, consult the official Version 50 announcement and patch notes rather than treating the earlier comments or broad plans as a final feature list.
