Hidetaka Miyazaki has called Bloodborne a special, deeply personal game, but the available interviews do not show him responding directly to calls for a PS5 remake or announcing one. The oft-repeated explanation that he is too busy and would not want another team to handle the game came from former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida, who expressly described it as his own theory.
Did Miyazaki respond to calls for a Bloodborne PS5 remake?
No direct response or remake announcement is established by the sources available. In a June 18, 2024 interview with Game Informer, Miyazaki spoke warmly about the original game and its personal significance. He did not announce plans for a remake in those remarks.
Miyazaki said, “Bloodborne is a special game for me as well. I’m very, very happy to hear you say that.” He also described it as “perhaps the strongest reflection of my type of flavoring of a game that one can experience.” He explained that he put personal ideas into its story, world-building, mechanics, and systems. Those comments show affection for the project; they are not a statement about a remake.
Where did the explanation about Miyazaki’s wishes come from?
The explanation traces to Shuhei Yoshida, a former PlayStation executive, in a GameSpot report published January 16, 2025. Yoshida suggested that Miyazaki might want to work on Bloodborne but was too busy, and might not want another team to touch it. Yoshida concluded: “So that’s my theory and the PlayStation team respects his wish.”

The qualification matters: this was Yoshida’s personal theory, not a confirmed explanation from Sony or a statement from Miyazaki. The report does not establish that Miyazaki has blocked a remake or that Sony has adopted Yoshida’s account as its official position.
Is Bloodborne available on PS5?
Bloodborne first released on PS4 on March 24, 2015. GameSpot describes it as playable on PS5 through backward compatibility. That means playing the original PS4 game on PS5—not playing a newly made native PS5 remake, remaster, or edition.

What is Bloodborne about?
FromSoftware’s official game description places the story in Yharnam, a city where a disease transforms people into beasts. The player takes the role of a Hunter and sets out to hunt them. That premise helps explain why Miyazaki’s remarks about the game’s world and systems are personal context, rather than evidence of a specific remake decision.

The sources cited here establish Miyazaki’s personal attachment to the original and Yoshida’s explicitly qualified theory; they do not establish a native PS5 remake or remaster announcement. Because announcement status can change, check official FromSoftware or PlayStation channels for any newer confirmation rather than treating speculation as news.
