Play the original Destiny campaign first, then the expansions in this order: The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and Rise of Iron. This follows Bungie’s year-by-year chronology and the order used in official Destiny: The Collection descriptions.
Destiny 1 DLC order
- Destiny — Play the base campaign first.
- The Dark Below — Expansion I.
- House of Wolves — Expansion II.
- The Taken King — Begins Destiny’s second year.
- Rise of Iron — Begins the third year and is the final expansion.
Bungie groups The Dark Below and House of Wolves with the first year, then places The Taken King at the start of Year 2 and Rise of Iron at the start of Year 3. The sequence is also reflected in the official Bungie timeline and the Xbox listing for Destiny: The Collection.

Is this the story order?
This is the practical chronological order: base game, then expansions by release and Destiny year. Official sources establish that sequence, but do not provide a separate comprehensive mission-by-mission story-order checklist. You do not need a different DLC order to follow the broad progression.
How to get the expansions
The Xbox and PlayStation descriptions of Destiny: The Collection say the bundle includes the base game and all four expansions. Check the live store listing for your region, platform, edition, and current availability before purchasing: Xbox or PlayStation Store.

Bungie’s legacy support guidance says Destiny 1 content through Rise of Iron remains available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while some activities have limited access and the game will not receive planned updates or content. If you are moving between console generations, check Bungie’s legacy-console guide: some releases or expansions may need to be repurchased, so do not assume an older license transfers.
