There is no validated, universal PC build for running PS5 games through AnyPS5. AnyPS5 is an experimental Windows and Linux project that ports PS5 executables rather than emulating an entire console. Its graphics path translates PS5 RDNA shader programs into SPIR-V for Vulkan, so a Vulkan-capable graphics card and suitable drivers are necessary checks. They are not, by themselves, a guarantee that a game will boot or run well.
The practical answer is game-specific: check the title’s current bring-up status first, then verify Vulkan support, CPU architecture compatibility, and enough system-memory and Windows commit headroom. No official source currently supplies a minimum CPU model, minimum GPU model, complete PC specification, storage target, resolution target, or frame-rate target for AnyPS5.

What AnyPS5 is—and why that changes the hardware question
AnyPS5 describes itself as a “Tool for automatic executables porting to Linux and Windows.” The project uses a relinker and replacement system libraries to adapt PS5 executables, modules, and resources to a desktop operating system. That is a different engineering problem from a conventional emulator, which normally reproduces a console’s hardware and operating-system behavior at runtime.
Because AnyPS5 is still experimental, a faster desktop cannot compensate for missing system-library support, an untranslated graphics feature, or game-specific code that has not been brought up. Hardware only matters after the software path for the particular title exists. Treat the project as a per-game compatibility experiment, not as a finished platform with a published system-requirements page.

Why no single minimum specification exists
Commercial PC games can publish one minimum and one recommended configuration because the developer controls the executable, rendering backend, and tested feature set. AnyPS5 is handling software that was built for a different console environment, and support can vary by executable, module, shader, and operating system. A requirement such as “8 GB of RAM” or “a mid-range graphics card” would imply testing that has not been documented.
The available technical material establishes four useful shopping criteria:
- Whether the GPU and driver expose the Vulkan features used by the translation path.
- Whether the CPU architecture is compatible with the porting approach.
- Whether the system has enough memory and commit headroom for the specific title.
- Whether that game has a working or actively developing compatibility path.
It does not establish a processor tier, graphics-card model, RAM capacity, SSD requirement, target resolution, or expected frame rate. Those omissions are meaningful: buying more powerful hardware does not fix unsupported libraries or an unimplemented game subsystem.
Graphics hardware: Vulkan support is the first gate
How the rendering path works
AnyPS5’s graphics work translates shader programs written for the PS5’s AMD RDNA environment into SPIR-V, the intermediate representation used by Vulkan. The resulting code is then handled by the desktop GPU’s Vulkan implementation. This makes three layers relevant: the card’s hardware features, the operating system’s Vulkan driver, and AnyPS5’s translation of the game’s shader behavior.
A card can therefore satisfy the broad requirement of “supports Vulkan” and still fail a particular game. Vulkan version labels alone do not prove that every required extension, format, synchronization behavior, or shader instruction is available and correctly translated. Driver quality and version can matter as much as the silicon.
What the shader tracker does—and does not—prove
The AnyPS5 progress tracker recorded recognition of 1,166 out of 1,166 tracked AMD RDNA 1 and RDNA 2 shader instructions when it was checked on October 13, 2026. In that tracker, an instruction is counted when the decoder recognizes it. Recognition is not the same as proving that every instruction’s runtime behavior is translated correctly, that all combinations are tested, or that a desktop GPU is fully supported.

- Memory Interface: 64-bit

Use the tracker as an indication of implementation progress, not as a benchmark or a purchasing guarantee. It cannot tell you that a specific graphics card will render a specific title at a particular resolution or frame rate.
How to evaluate an existing GPU
- Install the manufacturer’s current Vulkan-capable driver for your operating system.
- Confirm that Vulkan applications run normally on that driver, rather than relying only on a marketing specification.
- Check AnyPS5’s current issue, compatibility, or bring-up information for the exact game and graphics problem you may encounter.
- Keep the driver version recorded when reporting a failure; a different driver can change shader compilation or feature exposure.
No evidence supports naming an entry-level, mid-range, or flagship GPU as a universal AnyPS5 recommendation. A broad search for a “Vulkan-compatible graphics card” is reasonable, but it should never be presented as a promise that a purchase will make a game playable.
CPU requirements: architecture before raw speed
The available AnyPS5 documentation does not publish a validated minimum CPU model, core count, clock speed, or performance target. It does indicate that CPU architecture compatibility must be considered separately from CPU performance. A processor with ample cores can still be unsuitable if the ported executable or replacement libraries do not support its architecture and operating-system environment.
Before comparing processors, determine which architecture the current porting workflow supports for the game and operating system you intend to use. Then check whether the title’s compatibility notes identify CPU-specific failures. Do not infer a required core count from console specifications, and do not transplant requirements from a different emulator.
There are also no game-specific CPU benchmarks in the available material. Consequently, it is not possible to promise 60 frames per second, a particular minimum clock speed, or smooth performance on any named desktop processor.

The 13.5 GB example
Tom’s Hardware reported a Windows title scenario in 2026 in which AnyPS5 requested 13,824 MB (13.5 GB) of direct memory. The report says that the full allocation was charged against Windows’ system commit limit immediately. This is an observation from one reported title and configuration, not a universal RAM minimum.

Commit limit is backed by physical RAM plus the page file. A machine can therefore fail an allocation even when Task Manager appears to show free RAM if its commit limit is too low. Conversely, increasing the page file does not solve an unsupported game or make a shader translation correct; it only provides more virtual-memory backing when the workload needs it.
Practical memory checks
- Look at total installed RAM and current committed memory before launching a title.
- On Windows, make sure the page file is enabled and that the system drive has room for it to grow.
- Close applications that consume large amounts of committed memory, such as browsers with many tabs, virtual machines, and creative tools.
- If a title fails during allocation, compare the requested amount with the system’s commit limit rather than treating 13.5 GB as a blanket purchase recommendation.
The evidence does not justify declaring 16 GB, 32 GB, or any other capacity as AnyPS5’s official minimum. The reported 13.5 GB request simply shows why memory headroom deserves attention when testing a particular Windows game.
Compatibility status matters more than component rankings
On October 10, 2026, Tom’s Hardware reported that AnyPS5’s compatibility list identified Dreaming Sarah as the single verified playable title at that time. That is a dated status report, not a permanent count: the list can change as developers add ports, fix libraries, or discover regressions.

A title absent from the list may be untested, under active bring-up, or blocked by a known subsystem. A title listed as playable may still require a specific build, driver, or workaround. Read the current project notes for the exact executable rather than assuming that another game with similar graphics will behave the same way.
What to check before buying or repurposing a PC
1. Start with the exact game
Write down the title, region or release variant, and operating system you plan to use. Locate its current AnyPS5 compatibility or bring-up status. If the project has not identified working system libraries or graphics support for that executable, defer a hardware purchase; a stronger PC cannot supply missing porting work.
2. Verify the Vulkan path
Confirm that the candidate GPU has a functioning Vulkan driver on Windows or Linux. Check driver release notes and the project’s issue reports for known problems with shader compilation, required extensions, or that GPU family. Keep in mind that the project’s shader-instruction recognition count is an implementation metric, not a complete hardware certification.

3. Confirm CPU architecture compatibility
Check the architecture supported by the current AnyPS5 workflow and compare it with the candidate system. Only after that check should you consider CPU performance. There is no source-backed processor model that can be called a universal minimum or recommended choice.

Use the game’s reported behavior, if available, to estimate memory pressure. On Windows, inspect the commit limit and page-file configuration as well as installed RAM. The 13,824 MB example is a warning to leave headroom, not a specification to copy into every build.
5. Treat storage as a file-management requirement
AnyPS5’s workflow assumes that you have extracted game executables, modules, and resources. The project does not publish a validated storage capacity or drive-speed requirement in the available material. Ensure you have enough lawful space for the files and temporary build artifacts, but do not claim that a particular SSD size or interface is required.

Why shadPS4 specifications do not answer this question
shadPS4 is a separate PS4 emulator with its own published quickstart requirements. Those requirements describe the software and emulation design of shadPS4, not AnyPS5’s executable-porting workflow. Copying its processor, VRAM, or RAM figures into a PS5 compatibility-layer article would create a specification that has not been validated for AnyPS5.
The distinction is important even when both projects run console games on a PC: they reproduce or translate different hardware generations, operating-system interfaces, shader paths, and compatibility constraints. Use AnyPS5’s own game status and technical notes instead.
Common failure modes and what they mean
The game does not launch
First check whether the title is supported at all and whether its required replacement libraries and modules are available. A launch failure before rendering is more likely to indicate a porting or system-library gap than an underpowered GPU.

Shader compilation fails or rendering is corrupted
Verify the Vulkan driver, test a current driver version, and review AnyPS5 reports for the exact GPU family and game. Shader-recognition statistics do not rule out incorrect translation of a particular instruction sequence.
Windows reports an allocation or commit error
Compare the requested allocation with the commit limit, enable or enlarge the page file if appropriate, close other memory-heavy programs, and retry. Do not interpret this single error as proof that every AnyPS5 title needs 13.5 GB or more.
Performance is poor despite a fast GPU
Check CPU architecture compatibility, shader compilation behavior, and the game’s implementation status. Until game-specific benchmarks exist, there is no defensible way to convert a component tier into a guaranteed frame rate.
Game files, firmware, and lawful use
AnyPS5’s workflow expects extracted executables, modules, and resources. The project says it does not include or distribute copyrighted games, firmware, cryptographic keys, or proprietary libraries. You are responsible for obtaining and using files lawfully in your jurisdiction. Hardware troubleshooting cannot resolve missing files or licensing restrictions.
Bottom line for a PC buyer
Choose hardware only after identifying a game with an active AnyPS5 path. For an existing PC, verify Vulkan and driver support, confirm CPU architecture compatibility, and leave substantial memory and Windows commit headroom. For a new purchase, avoid claims that a named GPU, processor, RAM kit, or complete system is guaranteed to run PS5 games: no such universal recommendation has been validated. The software status of the individual title remains the decisive requirement.
