One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor an open-world Star Wars RPG such as Star Wars Outlaws, spend your budget on the GPU first. Ubisoft’s 2024 PC specifications span four targets: 1080p at 30 frames per second on Low, 1080p at 60 on High, 1440p at 60 on High, and 4K at 60 on Ultra. Across every tier, the practical foundation is a modern six-core-class processor, 16GB of dual-channel memory, a 65GB SSD, Windows 10 or 11 with DirectX 12, and an upscaler set to Quality.
The game’s third-person shooting, stealth, gadgets, speeder travel, traversal, crime-syndicate missions and ship dogfights also make controller precision important. Look for accurate analog sticks, predictable triggers, low-latency PC connectivity and useful remapping rather than choosing by appearance alone.

What matters most, in order
- GPU performance and VRAM: this determines the resolution, preset and frame-rate target you can realistically sustain.
- CPU performance: open-world streaming, traffic, enemies, physics and missions benefit from a relatively recent processor, not merely a high clock speed on an old chip.
- 16GB of dual-channel RAM: this is the amount Ubisoft lists in every performance tier.
- An SSD: both Ubisoft and Steam specify 65GB of SSD storage; Steam lists an SSD as required.
- Upscaling support: the published targets assume Quality upscaling, with DLSS 3.5, XeSS 1.3 and FSR 3.0 supported.
- Controller input quality: stable sticks, triggers and connection latency matter during aiming, driving and stealth.
These priorities prevent a common mistake: pairing a powerful processor with a graphics card that cannot deliver the desired image quality. For this game, a balanced CPU is necessary, but the graphics card is where a larger budget most directly changes your experience.
Ubisoft’s official PC targets
The following figures are Ubisoft’s 2024 specifications. Each target uses the Quality upscaler setting, so the stated output resolution is not the same as rendering every pixel natively.

| Target | Preset and output | GPU | CPU | Memory | Storage and OS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 1080p/30 FPS, Low | GTX 1660 6GB, RX 5600 XT 6GB, or Arc A750 8GB with ReBAR | Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600 | 16GB dual-channel | 65GB SSD; Windows 10/11, DirectX 12 |
| Recommended | 1080p/60 FPS, High | RTX 3060 8GB or RX 6700 XT 12GB | Core i5-10400 or Ryzen 5 5600X | 16GB | 65GB SSD; Windows 10/11, DirectX 12 |
| Enthusiast | 1440p/60 FPS, High | RTX 4070 12GB or RX 6800 XT 16GB | Core i5-11600K or Ryzen 7 5800X | 16GB | 65GB SSD; Windows 10/11, DirectX 12 |
| Ultra | 4K/60 FPS, Ultra | RTX 4080 16GB or RX 7900 XTX 24GB | Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5800X3D | 16GB | 65GB SSD; Windows 10/11, DirectX 12 |
Ubisoft lists 16GB in dual-channel mode for the minimum tier and 16GB for the other tiers. That makes a matched two-stick configuration more appropriate than a single 16GB module. The 65GB figure is the published requirement, not a recommendation to fill an SSD to its last few gigabytes; leave normal free space for Windows, updates and other games.
Choosing a GPU for your display
1080p at 30 FPS: the entry target
The GTX 1660 6GB, RX 5600 XT 6GB or Arc A750 8GB corresponds to Low settings at 30 FPS. The Arc option specifically includes a ReBAR requirement, so a compatible motherboard and enabled Resizable BAR matter. This tier is suitable when your priority is exploring the world at a stable baseline rather than maximizing effects or responsiveness.
1080p at 60 FPS: the sensible mainstream target
For High settings and 60 FPS at 1080p, Ubisoft names the RTX 3060 8GB or RX 6700 XT 12GB. This is the clearest value target for a new build or a modest upgrade: it doubles the stated frame-rate target of the minimum tier while retaining the High preset. The two listed cards have different memory capacities, so compare the complete card and its current price rather than assuming the model number alone predicts identical headroom.
1440p at 60 FPS: the enthusiast target
Ubisoft’s 1440p/60 High tier uses an RTX 4070 12GB or RX 6800 XT 16GB. A 1440p monitor increases pixel work substantially over 1080p, making this tier a better starting point than buying a 1080p card and immediately lowering settings. If you use a high-refresh 1440p display, remember that Ubisoft’s figure is a 60-FPS target, not a promise of 120 or 165 FPS.

4K at 60 FPS: the ultra target
For 4K/60 on Ultra, the listed choices are an RTX 4080 16GB or RX 7900 XTX 24GB. This is the most demanding official target and should be treated as a complete system plan: the accompanying CPU rises to a Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5800X3D. A less powerful card can still run the game by reducing the preset or output resolution, but it is not the published Ultra configuration.
Why the CPU still matters in an open world
A GPU renders the image, while the CPU coordinates the changing simulation behind it: world streaming, non-player characters, vehicles, physics, mission logic and input. Star Wars Outlaws moves between settlements, wilderness, speeder routes and space, so sustained CPU performance matters more than a short peak benchmark.
Match the processor to the target
- For 1080p/30, Ubisoft lists the Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600.
- For 1080p/60, the listed step up is the Core i5-10400 or Ryzen 5 5600X.
- For 1440p/60, Ubisoft names the Core i5-11600K or Ryzen 7 5800X.
- For 4K/60 Ultra, the specification rises to the Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
These are pairings, not a rule that the GPU can be ignored at high resolution. At 4K, the graphics card remains the dominant requirement, but the faster CPU helps maintain the intended 60-FPS target when the game is streaming and simulating a busy area.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhen a CPU upgrade is justified
Upgrade the processor when your graphics card is comfortably below full utilization while frame rate falls during traversal or crowded scenes, or when your current chip is older than the minimum class. Check motherboard compatibility, firmware support and cooling before choosing a drop-in replacement. Do not assume that adding more cores automatically fixes a GPU-limited system.

RAM, SSD and operating-system requirements
RAM: 16GB is the published baseline
Every Ubisoft tier specifies 16GB, with dual-channel mode explicitly named for the minimum configuration. Install two matched modules in the motherboard’s recommended paired slots and confirm dual-channel operation in firmware or your system-information utility. If you stream, record, keep many browser tabs open or run other heavy applications, additional memory can reduce background pressure, but Ubisoft does not require more than 16GB for any listed target.
SSD: required for the 65GB installation
Ubisoft and Steam specify 65GB of SSD storage, and Steam states that an SSD is required. Install the game on an internal SSD with adequate free capacity rather than treating a hard disk as an equivalent substitute. An SSD primarily affects loading and streaming behavior; it does not replace the need for a sufficiently powerful GPU or CPU.
Software prerequisites
The official tiers require Windows 10 or Windows 11 and DirectX 12. Keep the operating system, graphics driver and motherboard firmware current enough for your hardware, and enable ReBAR when using the Arc A750 configuration specified by Ubisoft.
Upscaling is part of the intended experience
Each official frame-rate target sets the upscaler to Quality. Ubisoft lists support for DLSS 3.5, XeSS 1.3 and FSR 3.0. Upscaling renders internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs the output, allowing a card to spend less work on every native pixel while preserving a target such as 1440p or 4K.

How to choose among the supported options
- Use the upscaler your GPU supports best: DLSS is available on compatible graphics hardware, XeSS supports Intel and can operate on other GPUs, and FSR is designed for broad hardware support.
- Start at Quality, because that is the setting attached to Ubisoft’s published targets.
- If performance is below target, lower expensive visual settings or move to a lower output resolution before treating the game as unplayable.
- If reconstruction artifacts, shimmering or softness bother you, test another supported upscaler or a higher internal-quality mode when performance allows.
Do not compare a “4K” result from a Quality-upscaled mode with a native-4K result as though they were identical workloads. The output label describes the display image; the internal render resolution varies by mode and implementation.
Controller features that matter for this game
There is no Ubisoft-endorsed controller model in the published specifications, and no independent latency figure establishes a single best product. Choose features that fit the game’s documented mechanics.
Sticks and triggers
- Accurate analog sticks: precise small movements help when lining up third-person shots, peeking during stealth and steering a speeder.
- Consistent trigger travel: smooth, repeatable resistance makes firing and acceleration easier to control than a trigger with an uneven dead zone.
- Adjustable dead zones: useful for compensating for minor drift or tailoring aim response, provided the software exposes the setting clearly.
Connection and latency
A wired USB connection removes battery concerns and generally gives the most predictable path to the PC. A reputable low-latency wireless mode is more convenient for a living-room setup, but test it in your own environment for interference, dropouts and wake-from-sleep behavior. Bluetooth can be adequate, yet its latency and reconnection behavior depend on the adapter, driver and surrounding radio traffic.

Buttons, remapping and ergonomics
- Remappable controls let you place crouch, gadget, scan, reload and vehicle functions where your hand reaches them naturally.
- Two rear buttons can reduce the need to remove your thumb from the right stick while aiming or driving; they are helpful, not mandatory.
- A textured, comfortable grip matters during long exploration sessions, especially when alternating between gunplay, climbing and speeder travel.
- Check that the controller’s PC mode is supported by the game and that its remapping application does not require a continuously running overlay.
Build and upgrade decisions by player type
Replacing an older gaming PC
First identify your monitor’s resolution and desired frame rate. For 1080p/60, target the recommended GPU and CPU pair rather than spending on a 4K card you will not use. Verify that the power supply, case airflow and motherboard firmware can support the replacement card.

Building for 1440p
Use the enthusiast tier as the starting point: RTX 4070 or RX 6800 XT class graphics, a Core i5-11600K or Ryzen 7 5800X class processor, 16GB dual-channel memory and an SSD. Treat the 60-FPS figure as the design goal, then adjust settings for your monitor’s refresh rate.
Planning a 4K living-room system
Start with the Ultra GPU and CPU classes, an SSD with room beyond the 65GB installation, and a controller with reliable wireless or a long USB cable. If the system cannot sustain 60 FPS, reduce the preset or output target rather than expecting a controller or extra RAM to solve a graphics bottleneck.
Troubleshooting common mismatches
Low frame rate despite meeting the listed GPU
Confirm that the game is using the dedicated GPU, the upscaler is set to Quality, the display is running at its intended resolution, and the graphics driver is current. Check temperatures and power limits, then lower the most demanding settings. The Ubisoft figures are targets for specified configurations, not a guarantee under every background workload or driver version.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Stutter or slow world streaming
Verify that the game is installed on an SSD with free space, close unnecessary disk-heavy applications, and check for thermal throttling. If the CPU is below the listed tier, crowded areas and traversal can expose that limitation even when average GPU utilization appears low.
Controller feels imprecise
Try a wired connection, recalibrate the sticks, reduce excessive dead-zone settings and confirm that the game is receiving one active input device. Rebind frequently used actions and check for wireless interference before replacing hardware.
Bottom line
For most PC players, the best-balanced goal is Ubisoft’s 1080p/60 High tier: an RTX 3060 8GB or RX 6700 XT 12GB-class GPU, a Core i5-10400 or Ryzen 5 5600X-class CPU, 16GB of dual-channel RAM and a 65GB SSD. Move to the RTX 4070/RX 6800 XT tier for 1440p/60, or the RTX 4080/RX 7900 XTX tier for 4K/60 Ultra. Pair that hardware with a controller whose sticks, triggers, connection and remapping feel dependable, and remember that Quality upscaling is part of every official performance target.
